My family and I always eat at Starlight whenever we're in Chicago, especially for breakfast. For a large group, we are always seated without hardly waiting, orders are taken and food is served in a spontaneous manner.

Passed this neighborhood gem many times and finally went in. Food was delicious, served quickly, and very reasonably priced. I will be back. Oh and there was free parking in the back and street parking is also an option.

The manager/ owner is rude as …. I ordered the southern shrimp and grits .The waitress told us that it was a popular dish. When she brought it to the table looked delicious. I proceeded to take a bite in it was flavorless. So I tired another bite. Omg I couldn’t eat anymore because it just was not good. I let my waitress know she said let me get the manager. He came over with attitude and said what’s the problem?vI said I am not happy with the flavor of the food. I don’t like it. He says well you looked at the menu didn’t you , so seen what you were getting? I said according to the menu, I would be getting a flavorful meal that I would enjoy. This guy went back-and-forth with me. It was unbelievable the attitude that he had !!! I’ve had plenty shrimp and grits dishes. His reply was we don’t make it like everyone else. Do you want it or not proceeded pick up the plate and my friend said don’t touch her food. He was very rude a dismissive never said , I’m sorry that you didn’t enjoy your food. I’ve never been treated so bad from a manager. They usually ask you , how can we make it right? This man needs to retire immediately rudeness times 10 . He had an I don’t care attitude about me liking my food. Horrible horrible horrible Customer Service!! My friend literally had her mouth open because she couldn’t believe what she just witnessed. My waitress was Awesome. I gave her the great tip that she deserved because she should not be held accountable for the way her manager treated me! I will never patronize this restaurant again!!

I went for breakfast. The restaurant is a decent size, good for a group. As soon as I sat down someone brought me water and offered coffee. My waitress was friendly. I had the ribeye steak, eggs, hashbrowns, and pancakes. I truly appreciated them cooking my hashbrowns just the way I asked. I didn't realize they give you 4 eggs with the meal. Next time I'll just ask for 2. The ribeye was tender, seasoned, and cooked the eat I wanted. Their pancakes are nice and fluffy.
