The food was delicious, our server was very friendly however I'm giving it a 1 star due to the lady and man that were at the front. She had an attitude the minute we got there, we had checked in online and cancelled when we got the notification by accident, we were on our way so we checked in again (open table). Upon arrival I provided my name and she said my check in had been cancelled, I tried to explain to her it was my mistake and the second check in had gone through and I had the text to prove it, she had a very nasty attitude that if that's the 1st encounter you get upon arrival it is not pleasant. Ok she ended giving us a table, asked if high tables were ok and we agreed. We finished our breakfast, my daughter was finishing up her iced coffee when a guy comes up and says we have to leave as they have a 1 hr. grace period and there were other people waiting, we had been there for about an hr or less. First of all I was there a few weeks ago when the Carrera de los Muertos took place and we waited over 2 hours for a table when they said 45 min wait, that day the place was packed and a lot more people waiting than yesterday and at no time were we given a time frame to finish up and leave. I find it very disrespectful the way we were treated by the lady at check in and the guy who told us to leave. Now our waiter once again, he was a sweetheart, he even apologized after he gave us our check and said take your time, I was like well we need to leave since we were told to do so. I get we all have bad days, but working in customer service you need to learn how to leave your attitudes at home!

Amazing breakfast sandwiches and cafe de olla, best one that I’ve ever tried by far. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is lovely. Will be my #1 brunch spot.

Amazing breakfast spot!! Will definitely be coming back. The seating area was huge. We went on a Thursday morning and it was actually quite busy. We got seated right away - very family friendly as we had a stroller with us and two other tables also had strollers. I got the Chef’s Special La Catedral which was amazing. If you like sweet drinks, be sure to get the Cafe Olla as the coffee option that comes with the breakfast. My husband got the chilaquiles rojo which was amazing and had a decent kick to it. We will definitely be coming back. There is also some parking designated for patrons in the parking lot in the back.

Parking: A few spots in the parking lot in the back. Otherwise maybe some spots on Ogden. The side streets have a few spots but most is permit parking.

The waiting list was 45 minutes on a Sunday morning, I had the red and green chilaquiles, they were okay but not impressed, my sons breakfast burrito took a while for him to get, we were almost done eating when his plate was brought. All I have to say is that I tried once and that was enough for me..

Prefer the catedral in little village.
Service was not good here, estimated wait time they told us 30min, it was an hour wait. Server forgot coffee, eggs and syrup for the pancakes. Only came back once to see if we needed anything else. Food was ok, my rice was cold. Would definitely recommend the one in little village instead.

I've been eager to try La Catedral for quite a while now, but each time we've visited the Little Village location, the wait times were long and our stomachs couldn't handle it. When I discovered they opened a new location, I was thrilled. I decided to take my grandmother with me, especially since she adores café de olla, and I couldn't wait to finally dig into their chilaquiles, my all-time favorite breakfast dish. Our waiter recommended the chile poblano chilaquiles, and let me tell you, they were outstanding! They were hands down the best chilaquiles I’ve ever had. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

La Catedral Cafe in Chicago is a hidden gem! I had the cafe de olla and chilaquiles verdes, and both were absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and authentic, making every bite a treat. The service was warm and friendly, which made the experience even better. The cozy atmosphere and unique decor really added to the charm—it felt like a little escape right in the city. I’ll definitely be returning soon to try more of the menu! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a flavorful and welcoming dining spot!
