After reading the reviews and taking into consideration what friends said about this place I was expecting alot more from them.

The restaurant is very small, very understandable for the location. The atmosphere feels alittle dirty, stuff hanging off the ceiling and from the walls looked old. By serving greesy food/tacos all that attaches to the walls and stuff on the wall and dirt sticks to that and just makes everything feel dirty. Tables are extremely close to each other, once we sat and pull our chairs in that was it, we weren't able to move.

Service wasn't the best, they really need more help. They had 2 ladies running around like crazy. One of the 2 ladies looked very stressed. She was rushing us during us ordering.

Now to the most important part, the food. Extremely disappointed. We waited over 1hr for the food. The size was as expected, it was a mexico style taco, small and with 2 bites it was gone. Prices range from $3 to $4.50, honestly not bad. But the flavor, taste and look of the taco was very disappointing.
We basically ordered all the meat tacos(between the whole party) The meet was extremely overcooked, too crunchy, flavorless and very sad to say the least.

I really wanted them to be good, specially since we waited over 1 hr for them. I would never visit again, how do you mess up cecina?, al pastor looked and tasted like chorizo with pineapple and asada was over cooked and we basically got what is left at the bottom of the cooking disc/pot/comal.

Also, they had aton of Santa Muerte stuff. I respect everyone's believe but don't shove it down our throat.

Don't recommend it. Go down afew more blocks and try something on 26th street.

The tacos are okay, I find them expensive. Small for the price. I had steak and al pastor. The steak lacks flavor while the al pastor has flavors that are not authentic like turmeric. They do not have the trompo either, tacos came from their skillet. The sauces are creamy. Also not very common in Mexico or Chicago.

Moved to Chicago from Texas a few years back. Ever since I had just been looking for something comparable to what I could get down south. Then I found La Chaparrita. These are the best tacos I've had in my life. No exaggeration. Now I'm a regular and the quality is always excellent. Never disappointed. Appears to be a one man show in the kitchen, which explains the consistent quality. These are authentic Mexican tacos. I highly recommend the tripa tacos (get them crispy).

The food was good, but an altar that "I'm not going to mention" and a very strange aroma caused me discomfort. And they even charge you a little expensive for the grilled onions.

The basket tacos they sell are not made traditionally and are not seasoned. They are not sweaty as they should be. They also gave me a gelatin-type sauce, expired. They make them on the comal and the price is super expensive.

This is def one of the best taco spots in the city. Def pricy for what you get so not a first choice, but the tacos themselves are amazing, the meat is seasoned super well, the tortillas are great, and the salsas are great (if you even need them depending on the taco they're that well flavored)

Cesar is the man!! Amazing tacos. Have been coming here every other weekend basically since moving into the neighborhood. My girls family has been living here all their lives. The tacos are great. I see lots of complaints with parking/service and those people don't have patience. It's a small tiendita so they need time. They get slammed with orders, it's only one guy making the tacos. Small operation people, relax. I will keep coming back here for as long as I can! Support local. Best tacos in the city in my opinion. My parents love them too. We used to go to la pasadita on Ashland way back in the day and guanajuatos.

My girlfriend and I stopped by this taqueria and it didn't disappoint. The atmosphere and decor made me feel like I was eating in Mexico. My girlfriend also loved the attention to detail inside. The service was fast and consistent. The food was very very good and filled with flavor. The only problem I would say was the size of the tacos, in comparison to price (about $3 to $4+ depending on protein). They are "Mexico size tacos" aka mini tacos, nonetheless, I won't take off a star because that's subjective and also because they tasted great. We were satisfied from the drinks to the food.

Parking: Very limited parking lot spots and apart from that, your only other option is street parking.
