Stopped in at La Colombe for the first time yesterday. I ordered a hot caramel banana brûlée latte and my friend ordered an iced caramel banana brûlée matcha. The rich sweetness of the caramel banana brûlée flavor complemented the earthy matcha perfectly. Both drinks were very good.
I come here to read, write, and people watch. People are also here to work and/or study. Very roomy and comfortable to spend hours on end. The coffee is superb! I look forward visiting every morning, since it is jmdown the street from my home.
This is my favorite coffeehouse in the Chicago area. We have nothing as good downstate. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating for food and overall is the noticeable absence of the gingerbread latte since 2023. It was by far the best latte I've ever had, and I'm not even a fan of gingerbread. I just called and asked if it's being served this year, and sadly it isnt. Again. So disappointing.
