My father was the panadero there before. Mr Fransico lopez. Aka paco. Used to love going there to help him.
Love the pan de dulce
Greatest Bollillos and Pan Dulce for more than 55 years .. Clean and Classy little corner store .
Family Owned
Still remember the owner and his fellow bakers in the back doors working and conversating
And sometimes with a smile and a pan dulce he would hand you ! Sweet seventies on 25th Drake going home after school .
Legendary Store and Fond memories from my childhood and my children's children ❤️
Thanks Espiga Del Oro
The bread is really Mexican authentic, they have 3 diferent size of bolillo, super crunchy and the sweet bread to die for, did I say really authentic Mexican flavor and texture.
The thing I like the most is that you have to wash your hands right before to grab a tray. Is a sink right at the bread hall.
The best sweet bread and bolillo in Chicago!!

ive been going to this store daily or weekly for the past 7-ish years. the cashiers there are really nice and the prices are pretty decent for me.
Kid-friendliness: theres a lot of kids or teens in the store most hours.

Great bakery and mini store a little bit of everything. They do request you wash your hands before handling the baked goods which is awesome

Super bad experience, the lady who serves reluctantly asked her about some bread and her response was, if you don't see it, why don't we grill it anymore?

The atmosphere at La Espiga De Oro is incredible, authentic and down to earth. I would recommend for anyone that lives in the greater Chicago area! 10/10, I will be back! The owners are such nice people with a heart of Gold!
