I’ve been to Taqueria La Paz many times, usually on Sundays, and it’s a solid, reliable spot for Mexican food. I’ve tried a variety of items over multiple visits, including burritos and quesadillas with lengua (beef tongue), chorizo, asada, and al pastor, and everything has been consistently good.

They offer two types of quesadillas — the handmade ones, which are large and filling, and a smaller version — and both are satisfying depending on how hungry you are. I’ve also tried the stuffed pepper torta, which was good as well. Nothing I’ve had has been bad or disappointing.

That said, the food is good, not amazing. It does its job well, but it’s not something I find myself craving. Because of that, I’d give this place a solid 4 stars. If I could give a 4.5, I probably would — it’s a safe option, fairly priced, and consistently decent, just not quite at the 5-star level for me.

One thing to note: there is a credit card surcharge, so paying with cash is the better option.

Overall, a dependable neighborhood taqueria that’s worth visiting if you’re in the area.

Mouth watering foods and fresh juices! Fresh made tortillas every day. There's a lot of Mexican restaurants in Chicago but this one def stands out for quality of food and community vibes. Highly recommend!

Amazing food and service!! We had Taqueria La Paz cater a lunch for our office of 150+ people and everyone was raving about the delicious fajitas, rice, beans, and guac. We'll definitely be ordering again. :-)

Had never eaten here before, but we took a chance and catered our kids birthday party from Taqueria La Paz…..it was spectacular.

The homemade tortillas complimented the half trays of Pastor, Steak, and Chicken for our build your own taco setup. Bountiful Rice, beans, and sides to compliment. The combination of flavors were incredible, and left the guests talking about the food for the rest of the night.

Service was incredible at pickup, with everything neatly packed and the staff even helping us load the car.

Will for sure be getting food from here again.

I stopped by for their Taco Tuesday special to give this spot a try. It’s a total mom-and-pop operation, located on a busy intersection in 60639. The area has no shortage of Mexican restaurants, so the competition is tough.

The vibe is colorful, bright, and informal, with plenty of space inside. Tables and chairs are a little worn, and the high ceilings make it a bit loud, but it has that home-style, casual feel that’s good for a quick bite.

The Taco Tuesday deal offered four protein options; I went with steak and chicken. The chicken was flavorful but on the dry side. The steak had a good taste but definitely packed some heat, so if you’re sensitive to spice, be warned. The tacos themselves were small, which I assume was because of the promo portion size. Chips were a nice touch, and the guacamole was yummy, though it could’ve used a little lemon and salt to really pop.

Service was friendly and attentive, which I appreciated. Overall, the experience was solid but nothing extraordinary. It feels very much like many of the other neighborhood taco joints in the area. I’d come back if I was nearby, but I wouldn’t go out of my way.
