Sometime chance plays a hand and we ended up at La Scarola. How lucky. Delicious authentic Italian food, brilliant staff, both kitchen & front of house. The restaurant was packed, people queuing to sit. The peppers & sausages are a must. Amazing portions for the pasta, everyone was leaving with pack ups as it would definitely feed 2 people and way too good to waste. Great value & a totally great experience.

La Scarola was a pretty good spot. Recently I visited and enjoyed a nice traditional Italian dinner. The food was tasty and the vibe was just what I was looking for

The food is good but comparable to other Italian restaurants. Bartenders don’t know how to make a decent martini, at least the one I had. There’s only 1 single bathroom per gender so usually always a line. It is super loud I can’t even hear the person next to me I’m talking to. It is very small and felt like a sardine can. The server was quite pushy for us to order asap so we can get out quick which was off putting. I get it ur packed but don’t make us feel like ur trying to do a quick turnaround on tables which you are clearly trying to do. Let us be able to relax and try and have a nice night without feeling pressured. I Parked on Union next to the restaurant, 2 cars behind me got broken into so not the best area. It has a lot of history which is nice.

We had a great dinner here with our family. The owner came outside and brought us in the restaurant and took great care of us.

The service was great, the food was excellent and the classic Italian vibe was fun. Great experience for our 3 boys visiting the big city. Must visit restaurant next time we are in town.

Food was decent but the service was not good. We received a dish we didn’t order and when we told the server we didn’t order that she insisted that we did and refused to take it back. Made us feel really uncomfortable. Wouldn’t return because of that.

What a great experience. A friend had recommended this restaurant when we came to Chicago. Wow! It didn’t disappoint. We had a little wait as they were backed up a little but Armando made it up to us. He treated us as if he knew us forever, taking the time to chat and make us feel like we were the only ones in this very very busy place. The food was great and plentiful. I highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed.

Went for my mom's 80th bday. Food was fabulous. Service was spot on. If there was a negative it is that seating was tight but it wasn't a deal breaker.

ALLERGEN WARNING please be warned! They get their cannolis from D’Amatos bakery, who makes them with peanuts that are dyed green to look like pistachios. I found this out after I took a bite and started having an anaphylactic reaction since I’m allergic to peanuts. My friends who I was at dinner with quickly flagged down our waiter who could not tell them what was in the cannoli. Another waiter also was unable to tell them. They went back to the kitchen, where they were told that there are “mixed nuts” in the cannoli. We finally called D’Amato’s and they confirmed they’re peanuts. Peanuts dyed green to look like pistachios on an “Italian” cannoli at an “authentic Italian” restaurant. Makes me wonder what other shortcuts they are taking, so I will not be coming back here and I don’t recommend!

La Scarola is amazing. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. Owner Joe and Armando is very nice. The restaurant is in good condition. Every celebrity has been in here. Great Italian food. Must come back. 10/10.
