These are the best carnitas in Chicago! Not only is the food amazing, the service was fantastic. I love that they have someone at the door to greet - definitely a lost art in creating a welcoming atmosphere. Everyone was so friendly and I will be back!

They are the worst carnitas I have eaten, they serve it cold and tasteless, the sauces that are not tasty, they taste more sugar than spicy. Their specialty is supposed to be carnitas, but they are far from that, they are not recommended.

First time trying the carnitas and it did not disappoint! The horchata coffee is absolutely delicious! I haven’t had the chance to sit down and eat in there but I lived on the block and the place really looks amazing.

Carnitas is my favorite meat and the carnitas and refried beans were so amazing. Great prices. Owner walked around asking how things were. Fast friendly service. AMAZING carnitas.
Came with my parents and it was simply lovely. The food is delicious and the staff is friendly and welcoming.

This was a little bit of Mexico in Chicago. The atmosphere the decor, the little plastic plates to the way that garden does the tortillas and the hot peppers were served. Just all reminded us of a restaurant in Mexico City. I just have two suggestions for the restaurant. The Carnitas and tortillas get cold too fast on the table because they are uncovered., I would just suggest to buy those Mexican tortilla holders to keep the tortillas warm. and to keep the Carnitas in aluminum foil as is traditional for take out. The second observation is that the price of non-alcoholic drinks like the Horchata were on the high side. If I go down the street and ask for a large drink, I will get nearly a liter worth of a drink the same price. Lastly, the salsas need more kick otherwise offer mild and hot. Nonetheless, neither of these things will keep us from coming back again. We really enjoyed ourselves and everything was delicious.
So disappointed! This place had been on my radar for awhile and after reading some of these great reviews I was super excited to finally try them out. Carnitas were bland and a bit dry. I ordered a pound of maciza and 1/2 lb of surtido. Needless to say I won’t be going back 😕

Dropped by Las Carnitas Uruapan for lunch and went for the “Especial” — half pound of crisp-on-the-outside, melt-in-your-mouth tender carnitas, a taco dorado, frijoles, tortillas, and an agua fresca. Everything tasted like home, especially those toasty house-made tortillas and rich beans. Service was fast, even with the lunch rush. Spent about $12. Worth every dang penny.
