Beware of hidden charges. They charged $3.00 for hot sauce ( a condiment) because we ordered an appetizer instead of dinner. I understand if I ordered chips and salsa but not just salsa. A spoonful cost $3.00! We were regulars because the margaritas were awesome. We spend more for premium alcohol and never complained. The wait staff is awesome. I'm going to miss the banter. The hidden charges, not so much. Not a good business model to treat loyal customers. I guess change is good. Time to build a loyal following at Cescas.

This is tied for first place best restaurant in Lakeview on my books. Hands down the best Mexican restaurant I’ve been to in Chicago, and my partner and I have to come here at least once a month minimum.The atmosphere is perfect - they always play the best Latin music that’s not too loud, the art is so strange but makes you look at every piece, and the overall ambiance with the candles is just perfect for a not too fancy but calm, cool, casual spot.Onto the food (and margaritas). The margaritas, again, are my favorite in the city. So good, they are dangerous and you will find yourself slugging a pitcher faster than you probably should lol. Our server told us they fresh squeeze the limes every morning, and you can tell they are perfectly mixed every single time. Not a single entree has ever disappointed. Favorites are the taco ensalada (shell is SO good), fajitas bistec, and enchiladas pollo y mole.Service is always so welcoming, quick, and attentive. Cannot recommend enough!

This place is bomb. The reviews I read seem to mostly be about service and ambiance, but food seems to always be highly recommended. I personally enjoyed all three - mole was like my abuelita used to make and the service was great. I think we found our new neighborhood Mexican spot.

I recently went to a Mexican restaurant and unfortunately had a terrible experience. The food was overpriced and extremely salty. I dined with two other people, and we ordered enchiladas and tacos. We were unable to finish our meals as the saltiness was overwhelming. The rice was not undercooked, but the quality of food was very poor considering its prime location in Halsted. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant if you want to avoid disappointment.

Enjoyed our overall experience here - really good veggie burrito, excellent portion size, and price is reasonable. The service was good, until the end - we had a long delay in getting and paying our bill. We will definitely go back and pack a little extra patience.
