My family “discovered” Lawrence Fish Market in 2017 before they moved to their present location. We were very impressive with the freshness and quality of the food and how reasonable the prices were. Very good value for the money. It helped that the owners, Irasan and Cindy were very friendly too. 8 yrs forward and I’m thinking of stopping buying from them. The prices have increased at least 50% since 2017 and yet the portions have shrunk by at least 50%. And there’s almost always a mistake in the tally of items charged and missing orders that are charged anyway. So disappointed.
Really excellent sushi platters and strong wasabi
I absolutely love Lawrence Fish Market! I’ve ordered from them many times and they never disappoint. The sushi is always fresh and delicious, with amazing flavor and great quality. The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable—especially considering how much food you get. It’s perfect for takeout, and everything is always beautifully packed and ready to enjoy. I highly recommend this place to any sushi lover. Definitely one of my favorite spots!
Awful!! Ordered party trays for Sunday morning pick up. They call and cancel saying they are unable to fulfill it. Thanks for screwing up my boys’ birthday party. Spoke with the manager directly and Mr. Yang kept saying their hours are 10am. So from what I found out they don’t come in early to prepare rice or anything. Rice takes 30-45 minutes to be cooked so be prepare to wait until 11 before your food is ready unless they are using overnight rice
Best sushi in Chicago!
This is my favorite place to get takeout sushi when I’m in the area. The fish is so good and great value. I love the variety of roll options and their nigiri is so fresh. This location is cheaper than the Chinatown location, but parking and traffic is a hassle.
Call ahead of time to place your order so it’s ready when you get there. This place is always busy!
Be prepared for cash-only. There is minimal dining area, meant for mostly takeout.
Great sushi!! You can’t beat the price, yet the quality is stellar. As I order it for more people, most are shocked at the level of quality (and for the price!)
For large groups I like to order a variety of rolls and it comes on a large tray so everyone can try, they also offer pre-set roll trays. Cash only, but they have an atm in the store should you forget your cash! Even though I don’t live close by I continue to come here for sushi!
They also have little area of snacks you can get on the side of your sushi order!
First time trying this place. Recommended by a friend. We tried a couple to get as much experience of their rolls: Banzai, Creamy, Dreamy, Moonlight, Orange Sunshine, and Summer rolls. They were actually really good. Solid. Price - pretty good. Better than most restaurants. I would order here again. Definitely going to order from here for next family gathering 🤤. Banzai was our most favorite! Parking - there’s meter parking in front. Do expect 30-45 mins wait for your order. Best tip: place order before arriving. They take cash or Zelle only!
Great food, lots of menu options and prices affordably. Loved my experience and can't wait to come again
Some of the best sushi you can get, and also super affordable. Quality of the fish is tops.

Lawrence Fish Market is one of those old-school, no-frills spots that’s earned its local reputation for affordable sushi. It's *cash only*, which might throw you off if you’re not prepared, but the prices make up for the hassle. You’ll find a huge selection of maki and sushi rolls—definitely more than you'd expect at first glance.
Is it the best sushi in town? Not quite. The quality is solid, but nothing that’ll blow your mind. Some rolls can be hit or miss, but overall, it’s a decent value for the price. The location isn’t the most convenient, and the setup is more grab-and-go than dine-in experience. That said, if you're looking for a budget-friendly sushi fix or planning a casual sushi night at home, this place gets the job done without breaking the bank.
I love all the tray options, you can taste the quality of the fish. Cash only and usually call ahead
Awesome food, but they've either messed up our order or forgotten someone multiple times. That said, they've always given a credit for next time if I call. Remember it's cash only!
Delicious and affordable! Very hole in the wall, the staff was friendly and it tasted like authentic fish.
Lawrence Fish Market is among the best sushi spots in Chicago, but the only one that is a VALUE. Definitely the freshest, most delicious, and most creative place that offers takeout, and has been for at least a decade.
For the best experience, look at the menu and figure out your order (everything is good, but the Banzai and Mexico rolls are my favorite), then call ahead to place a pickup order. You'll give them your full phone number over the phone, but when you get in they only care about the last four digits. BRING CASH or use the ATM.
The trays you'll get when you order ~six rolls will make you look like you spent $200 when you only spent $70. Feast!
Also, they have egg rolls, crab ragoon, and other hot food that aren't on the printed menus.
