Favorite restaurant in Chicago. One of few restaurants in Chicago with actual character. Every dish is incredible, but I always come back for the mussels and the steak frites (manion style obviously). 10/10
Phenomenal food - nothing too crazy just exceptionally executed seasonally inflected French-ish fare. The wine list is superb and half priced bottles on Monday are an insane deal. Great help from Nicola and Ryan selecting wine and food and taking care of our luggage through the meal (we were heading straight to the airport from dinner.) Perhaps it was just the wine deal but a restaurant entirely full at 530pm (on a Monday) is a great sign.
Incredible food and service as always. Brought my roommate for the first time, and she said it was the best meal she's ever had. Ryan was wonderful!
Everything was absolutely delicious. My only criticism is that it is a very “bright” environment and therefore really loud. Even sitting across from my husband at a two top, we had to lean in to hear one another.
Once again, it was a wonderful dinner from start to finish. The Morels were absolutely fantastic, with a fabulous sauce. Les escargots were classic. The Trout en Croute was to die for. The service is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The vibe is like we have been transported to the heart of Paris.
Nice atmosphere, but the experience was disappointing. Food took forever to arrive and came out cold. Expected better.
Drove all the way here and they were closed ): don’t know what their hours but the ones listed online and on their front door are incorrect.

Came all the way from southside to have lunch and to try them. Arrived at 1 and they were closed despite they lunch hours going from 11-2:30. No indication on their website that they are closed.

The food was delicious (escargot, soft-shelled crab sandwich, and unusual and tasty fish sausage on sour dough) and the staff very friendly. Half-price bottles of wine on Mondays a great value. It did take more time than I would have liked for our food to get to us. We were seated at one of the quieter tables. So glad not to have been in the main area, which was deafening.
The steak frites manion style is amazing. The creme brûlée is outstanding in terms of taste and texture. Wait staff is very attentive and knowledgeable.

First time here. Loved the onion soup. We had morels on brioche which were phenomenal. I ordered steak frites medium rare and was given an almost uncuttable, unchewable cut of meat in a very off shape with fries that seemed old but heated twice. This was a 5:15p seating on a Saturday. I won't be back based on that. It's very crowded. They suggest putting in a full order for them to course but we had very uneven gaps between. The ambiance is fine, it's really small
Use the restroom before as it's an awkward situation to use theirs due to it being a door in the dining room.

Two of us came here to celebrate end of school year. The service was amazing - at least three people congratulated us and they gifted us each a glass of champagne.
Atmosphere is not bad, but it's so cramped in the restaurant that we were practically sharing a table with the two couples on either side. Did not love that for an intimate date night out but that is also just the nature of the restaurant so can't blame them too much.
Food was objectively very good. We ordered French onion soup (delicious), steak frites, and the pastry-wrapped fish dish. All of these were good, and my partner loved all of the food. For me it all felt just a bit too rich and buttery. It felt like there wasn't enough freshness or lightness to break up the textures and flavors. I also didn't love the whole peppercorns with the steak frites and it felt a little nickel-and-dime to charge more or less for the different sauces. We also ordered some croquettes that were definitely not worth the cost.
as an overall experience the service really elevated the whole dinner, and most people love the food, it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Always love it here. Your staff, your food, the quail!! Looking forward to coming back soon!
Went here for the first time over the weekend and loved it! Very charming and cozy atmosphere, delicious cocktails, and the food was top notch.
Le Bouchon nails the quaint French bistro vibe but the execution left me disappointed.
The space is quaint, small and nicely decorated. It feels like it was plucked straight out of a French catalogue.
Service was just okay. Not rude, but definitely not attentive to detail. We started with the Lyon potatoes soup (cold potato and leek soup), which was creamy, onion-forward, and refreshing for summer (very traditional, very rich). Good to taste, but definitely a dish to split, not finish solo.
For mains, we ordered the Filet-O-French and the crab sandwich. Both took far too long to arrive (45 mins) and when they finally did, my fish sandwich was cold. The flavors were there: great tartar sauce, dill seasoning, soft brioche bun but the temperature issue was a deal-breaker, especially at this price point.
One point in their favor: the fresh bread at the beginning. It was very fresh and well made. I always appreciate great in house bread. But that’s about it.
I’d also say the apple tart was good, a nice dessert but would not make up for the other mishaps. I’d repeat that.
Bottom line, Le Bouchon is pleasant to sit in but the food and service don’t justify the price. I’d say it’s good, not great, probably won’t be going back.
