We love this place and have been regular customers for several years! This time, I also want to give special feedback for our server, Kristine. She’s an excellent employee — she gave us a warm welcome and surprised me with her amazing memory of my favorite drinks and dishes. She truly makes us feel like family, and I really appreciate that. Thank you for having her on your team. She’s definitely an A+ in our book! 😀

Had dinner for a friends birthday and it was awesome! The food was super tasty and came out in huge portions—definitely didn’t leave hungry. Big shoutout to our server Vanessa—she was fantastic, super friendly, and made sure everything was perfect. Can’t wait to come back!

The service is always amazing. Christina and Vanessa are amazing bartenders. Manuel is a nice friendly and attentive server. And finally Pedro, he is an amazing Manager. We do recommend this place to anyone. This is a great neighborhood restaurant.

My wife and I recently hosted our baby shower at Legno for about 40 people and I cant recommend this restaurant and their staff enough! Pedro and his team went above and beyond to ensure the layout, decorations, food, etc was all perfect for our big day. Everyone loved the food, the prices were very reasonable, and the attention to detail was top notch! We did the wood fired pizza package with three hours of house beer and wine. This is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants and it will continue to be one of our go-to spots. Highly recommend!

I visited at 6 pm on a Tuesday.

Food: The margherita pizza is the best marg pizza I’ve ever tried, highly recommend their pizzas in general but marg specifically. The Fettuccine Alfredo was okay, nothing special, can easily be recreated by anyone at home. And where they really dropped the ball was the fries, without a shadow of a doubt, the worst fries I’ve ever tried, overcooked with burnt ends, no any kind of seasoning expect a very light sprinkle of salt, stay away from it. The complementary bread was below average but not bad, drown it in olive oil and Parmesan and it’ll be okay.

Service: Staff were neither friendly nor bad, a very average expressionless service.

Atmosphere: the place was empty which is smthn I love. Great music being played at the perfect volume.

So I ordered chicken fettuccini from Legno thinking I was going to get a full order and I got less than half of a container and presentation was beyond mediocre. And flavor wasn't what I expected for the price they had charged for an order.
I also ordered a pound of popcorn shrimp and when it arrived it looked like only half a pound and extremely dry. I think that's why they give you four small containers of its cocktail sauce to cover up the dryness of the flavor, and mostly breaded than shrimp.

Great authentic Italian pizza and nice live music in Chicago

I'll start by saying that I would give Legno 4.5 stars. The restaurant was comfortable and the decor was really nice. Our food was good and I'll say more about that momentarily. Service wasn't bad, but it also was quite slow and there were long periods where our server wasn't available BUT I want to be fair we were there for Dinner after a big Easter Brunch service, so it's possible they weren't at their best after such a busy morning.

For dinner, I got the Tartufo pizza with the Beet and Spinach salad and my partner got the Fettucine Alfredo and a meatball. The salad was a bit of a let down, it was mostly a spinach and goat cheese salad with a few beets, not bad but not exactly what I was expecting. The pizza was excellent, on par with the best wood-fired / Neapolitan-style pizzas I've had in the city. It was a bit too much for one person, it would probably be just right for two if you shared a salad or an appetizer as well. The meatball was good and very hearty, and the alfredo was good, although worth noting it's a traditional style alfredo so generally a bit less creamy / salty then some folks might expect. They also brought out bread, oil, and parmesan cheese for us while we waited, and the bread was quite good.

Overall, a good meal, with the pizza legitimately qualifying as great. It was very reasonable, with the extra items we ordered, tax, and tip we were still around ~30 pp which is less than I expected. I'll definitely go again and I'd recommend it if you're in the area - I'm not sure if I'd go out of my way but I think it's comparable to most of the good 'authentic' Italian I've had in Chicago so if you're craving that it might be worth the trip.

My daughter and I dined here on a Tuesday evening. It was my first time visiting Legno.
It wasn’t very busy, there were only 4 other tables besides ours but the service was not very good. Our server was not friendly and didn’t recommend anything. We ordered and we got appetizers and food at the same time which is not how food should be served but anyway, we were missing an item and he did not say anything about it until I asked, only then did he say it was coming. He brought out the missing item a few minutes later and then he didn’t come back to the table. I wanted to order something else and another drink but even though the server walked from the kitchen across the restaurant a couple of times, he never came by or even looked our way so I couldn’t even flag him down. Finally the host noticed me rubber necking to get the sever’s attention and came over and asked what we needed. After that the server came by a couple of times to check on us. I wish I could tell you if the food was good or not but the bad service we received outshined the food. We took most of it to go.

This place punches well above its weight. Their food is consistent and is always good. Their pizza is some of the best in the area. Service is always great and friendly. Lastly, they really do a great job with family’s.
