So finally, NYC based bakery Levain is here in the heart of the west loop Chicago. I am not sure how long it has been here in Chicago, but I came to know last weekend and here I’m with few days! Worth trying always!

Drove an hour just to get treated like crap!!! I have been so excited to try this bakery & the girl working at the cash register didn’t greet me or anything I had to ask all of the questions! On top of getting $5 a piece of cookies that we’re all cold! I have never been so disappointed & hurt by a small business they will never get my business again!

Listen. I never have a picture because I bite into the cookie IMMEDIATELY. LOL, if you want a flat cookie or a cookie that doesn't really give a bang, this isn't the place for you. I love the thickness. Everyone I've had, whew chile..... so good. Lolol, if you're on a regimen, i suggest sharing the cookie right away. Otherwise, baby, you're going to be in trouble that day. ? my 2 favs... coconut caramel chocolate chip & chocolate chip with walnut. Enjoy! Yuuuummmy. Oh, and they come warm. ??????? Thank me later!

The cookies and scones are spectacular.
The service is very bad. Without very bad attitude and without desire to serve.
The coffee is very good.
The place is simple, but pleasant.

I ORDERED ONLINE AND IT CAME FROM QUEENS NEW YORK. THAT COOKIE AND I PAID OVER $50.00 FOR SHIPPING AND HANDLING WAS AWFUL JUST PLAIN BAD!! THE COOKIE ITSELF HAD NO FLAVOR IT WAS BLAND AND WHAT MADE IT STAND OUT WAS THE SEMI SWEET CHOCOLATE CHIPS. THE COOKIE LACKED BUTTER HARDLY ANY SUGAR JUST FILLED WITH TONS OF CHOCOLATE CHIPS. HAD SO MANY CHIPS THAT THERE WAS VERY LITTLE COOKIE. IT DOES PUT ME IN THE MIND OF A SCONE AND HAD THE BLAND BLAH TASTES OF ONE. SO THE ONES I HAD ARE PROBABLY GOOD ENOUGH FOR DIPPING IN COFFEE BUT NOTHING MORE. YEAH I CAN’T SAY I WILL BE GOING BACK BUT SOMETHING DEFINITELY FELT A LITTLE OFF ABOUT THOSE COOKIES.

Had to try what I heard was "the best cookie ever".
A lot of the recent cookie places that I've tried leaned more into chewy soft cookies but I believe Levain has beautifully nailed the combination of crispy and chewy.
I got chocolate coconut, chocolate walnut, fall chocolate chunk and oatmeal raising.
The chocolate coconut is delicious and tastes like an Almond Joy and a Cookie made sweet love. The chocolate walnut was deliciousy nutty, chocolately, and when I say nutty I mean like I bit into it and there was a whole walnut in there. Perfection. The oatmeal raising cookie had some big raisins in there- possibly the best oatmeal raising cookie I have ever had in my mouth.
There was no description for the fall chocolate chunk but it had a kind of orange hue to it so I figured it was a pumpkin type vibe. I was wrong-- to me it tasted more like apple and nutmeg but it tasted like eating the month of October.
The cookies are HUGE-- like the size of my whole palm. I couldn't eat them all in one sitting-- they are so rich and filling. Definitely having milk/oat milk is a MUST.
I am very impressed with these cookies and it's definitely a must trym

I rarely leave negative reviews but the baguettes are so consistently underwhelming, dry, or overcooked it’s a huge shame. I had a properly made baguettes with butter and jam when I first moved here and it was incredible. A highlight of my day. Not I can barely chew through one without my teeth and jaw hurting. I wish they would take some pride in their bread and start either having it freshly made or cooked properly. It’s almost inedible for more than a few bites because of jaw fatigue. Delivery is even worse. Cookies and things with butter are great.
