Had an incredible meal! The four cheese dip and prime rib sandwiches were so flavorful and good! Our server was so kind and helpful, will definitely be back!
The service is wonderful, and the Caesar salad, burger, appetizer, and drinks were fantastic
The food was excellent from apps to salads to sandwiches. Service was thoughtful and prompt. We felt lucky.
Good food, great drinks. Front of the house service was friendly but felt short-staffed just a few people running around. Felt if they had more help my party would have ordered more drinks for a higher tab. Definitely recommend if in the area - SOLID choice!
There was a large group of us and we went with family style. We had - burrata, meatballs, grilled branzino, Lola's salad, grilled chicken, steak, brussel sprouts, rigatoni, mac and cheese. One item was better than the next! Deeelish! Outstanding service!
This was our first time here. The bar had great options for happy hour. We had the happy hour cocktails and then were seated. We had a large group, and the waiter suggested we try dining "family style" to sample all the different entrees. TIt was a great suggestion. The steak was so delicious. We also loved their pasta, and they were very accommodating and mindful of a food allergy one of our guests had. It was a great experience. Our waiter had a lot of large table,s and he managed to time the food perfectly. I highly recommend Carpenter Street.
Love the vibe of this place. Food is fantastic and service top notch. Love the Rigatoni...the sausage gives it just a perfect amount of heat. Mussels are a can't miss with great broth and bread to dip. Perfect neighborhood spot for a casual night out.
After three visits to Carpenter Street, I can securely confirm this place is wonderful. The happy hour & dinner menus have amazing food and drink choices, I love the spicy vodka pasta entree and the happy hour meatballs! Lisa is one of the best bartenders in the city, her drinks never miss and her energy is so bright & kind. Lisa’s dirty martini’s are delicious!!
Warm and welcoming ambiance and service and delicious food and (strong) tasty drinks. Highly recommend the truffle fries - I know it sounds trite but they’re amazing. The Caesar salad was delicious and filling. The cookie skillet is from your dreams. Such a comfortable and cozy spot for a best friend dinner or a weekend hang or a random coworker night out or a date night - can’t wait to go back.
Enjoyed our cocktails and wine, but had issue with almost every food item ordered. Only ones without critique were the Salmon and Branzino. 3 out of 5 steaks were severally overcooked, tomatoes on the burrata looked lovely but had no flavor, and the sautéed mushrooms resembled something dehydrated. The wait for drinks and the food would have made sense if the place was packed, but is was not.

I was in Chicago-proper for work and looking for something deliciously non-corporate. Side streets are my target and hit gold with Carpenters St. After a happy hour of delicious mussels, wine, and communing with Joe, one of the owners, I knew I also found my dinner spot for later that evening. The food was fantastic, but the soul of the establishment was what really captivated me. The service, the drinks, the attention to high quality ingredients - this restaurant offers everything that is missing from your mainstream loop hip spot. Thank you to Edgar, Joe, and the entire crew at Carpenters Street for an absolutely amazing experience. I’ll see you the next time I’m in town - that’s a promise.
Food was decently priced for how good it tasted. The burger was actually really good. My only complaint was my server calling me buddy and my girlfriend babe. There's nothing more belittling than having another man call you buddy. Service certainly needs some work.
Great martini in a nice chill spot. Tad expensive but good happy hour deals
went for lunch and it was great!! Patty melt was super good and different and it comes with fries so that's good and then we got the carpenter street salad. absolutely droooool. So good. And it was big enough for three people.
Hosted an 18 member dinner here last week. Ordered a bunch of appetizers including the burrata, 4 cheese dip (really good), several salads which were wholesome, truffle fries, meatballs. All the drinks (cocktails and whiskey offerings were solid)
Entrees included the lamb chops, 3-4 of us got the steak which was good, brussel sprouts were great. In short, this is a place we would happy visit again in Chicago.
