My husband and I ordered burritos. The meat was flavorful, well spiced, and delicious. Veggies in side were fresh. We got two sauces (one more spicy) and both were great. The burritos were a good size and juicy.
Above all, the service was excellent! Señor at the front was very kind and we had a great chat while I waited for my order.
100% coming back!

Los Portales Mexican Restaurant is a popular spot for delicious Mexican cuisine, offering a variety of lunch specials. The steak is tender and mostly meat, making it a great option. The enchilada lunch special is generous and flavorful. While some dishes, like the gorditas, may be hit or miss, the restaurant takes pride in its food and service. The atmosphere is delightful, with piping hot and fresh food. The owner was so nice and worked the grill. The dining area was clean and cozy, with tasteful decorations and a TV. Los Portales is a low-key spot for lunch with carne asada tacos, pork tamal, and horchata. The tacos were hella juicy, tortillas held up, and the salsa bar packs a punch. The tamal was steamy and legit. Staff was chill, service quick, and the papel picado vibe keeps it cozy. It's a solid little spot for tacos and tamales—nothing fancy, just good food. The al pastor tacos hit, especially with the green salsa. The tamale was decent. Service was quick. Great for a quick bite if you’re in Rogers Park and want something tasty without spending a ton. The location is convenient, with metered parking on Morse and free parking nearby. Overall, Los Portales is a great choice for Mexican food.
