That said, $150 iss an expensive price for a meal without a wine or sake pairing, and it's worth remembering you could easily cover dinner for two - including wine - at one of Chicago's premier restaurants for this price. Macku was recommended as best sushi since Katsu retired, but I am afraid this is simply not true. The omikase items were creative and thoughtful, palate pleasing, especially for the largely Caucasian patrons, but it is much more Japanese-inspired American cuisine than Katsu, which set the standard for quality sushi with impeccable provenance. We took our dad here for his 75th birthday and we had the whole restaurant for ourselves. The food was phenomenal and the presentation even better. It was the best and most creative Japanese/sushi meal I've ever had. It was expensive, but worth it.
