My wife and I went back to Maman Zari last night for our 2nd visit and had a wonderful time.

Miriam is very friendly and diligently followed up about our dietary restrictions. Josh was enthusiastic and attentive through both food and wine service.

The food was excellent! Kudos to the back of house team, who strike a satisfying balance between authenticity and creativity (not to mention, delicious and well-portioned). The tasting menu was great and I'll encourage friends to try it, and we'll visit for a non-occasion to try the a la carte menu too.

Went here with family and tried both the tasting menu and à la carte. Food was excellent and service was great. It’s more of a food experience type of place, so the dishes come out at a slower pace — but worth the wait. Overall, very good and highly recommended!

This restaurant was excellent. Offering a standard and vegetarian tasting menu, both my wife and I fully enjoyed our experiences. I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in Albany Park and/or looking for Persian food.

It was an absolute delight dining at Maman Zari. From the warm hospitality we received upon arrival and throughout the evening—from Mariam and the entire staff—to the fantastic eight-course menu that offered a creative and memorable reimagining of traditional Persian dishes, every aspect of the experience was exceptional. Thank you, Maman Zari, for pushing the boundaries of Persian cuisine and venturing boldly into the realm of Persian fine dining.

This meal blew my mind. Easily entering my top 10 global restaurant experiences.

I went for my birthday for the 8-course tasting ($95) after reading review for several restaurants. Each dish was far too complex to break down individually but I'll provide a summary below. TLDR: perfect execution. Explosive flavors/textures that really make you wonder what on earth they are doing in that kitchen.

Amuse Buche: Persian cucumber, mint, lime ice. Phenomenal. I could have eaten an entire bowl of these and left happy.

Course 1: ABDOOGH KHIAR. Refreshing, light. Delicious. I licked the bowl clean.

Course 2: MIRZA GHASEMI & SABZI KHORDAN. Also phenomenal. The eggplant was warm, soft, and flavorful. The tapenade-esque spread was rich and deep in flavor.

Course 3: SALAD-E HENDEVANEH. Yall thisssssssssss OH. Top tier bite. The best course of the entire tasting.

Course 4: MAHI. This was my favorite of the meat-based dishes. The saffron aioli imparted a deep, profound dimension to the dish. The fish was perfectly cooked and had an intentionally seasoned crust that just flaked and fell apart in my mouth.

Course 5: ALBALOO POLO BA MORGH. The chicken to me was alright.

Course 6: SHISHLIK. Very, very good. Not the best lamb chop I've ever had but up there. The sour cherries throughout the meal were a nice touch.

Course 7: TABESTOONI. This was my second favorite dish. Incredible. The puffed quinoa... who thinks of that. Everything bit was like a flavor bomb exploding. 600 out of 10.

Course 8: I am allergic to pistachios so I didn't get to try 2 of the 4 cookies, but the cookies I did eat were good. And I loved the muffin they brought me. I was so full I could not finish it and they were kind to box it up.

Drinks: Tabas Mirage (ahhhhH!!!!! WOW. Complex). Sekanjabin (same reaction, same quality, just w/o alcohol). A dessert noble rot Riesling I forget the name of that tasted like Hogwarts and Halloween. Perfect.

My waiter Josh was extremely kind and attentive of my various food allergies. 100 out of 10 service.

My birthday felt special because of this meal. I will be back.

This is the first tasting menu I've ever done and it was a delightful experience — I highly recommend the summer menu. Each dish was perfectly paced, beautifully plated, and absolutely delicious. We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff and service made it a truly special occasion. I can't wait to come back for another seasonal menu!

Absolutely worth the $95 tasting menu. Every dish was beautifully plated and full of flavor—surprising, balanced, and satisfying. Standouts included the grilled romaine (Salad-e Kahoo), which was unexpectedly delicious with its tangy-sweet dressing. The ambiance leans toward fine dining, and the service was warm and professional. Portion sizes were generous—we left full and happy. Would gladly return if the menu rotates.

One of the best meals I’ve had. Maman Zari offers a new experience of Persian home cooking with a modern twist. The restaurant's cozy atmosphere, combining traditional and contemporary decor, creates a welcoming setting for diners.
The menu highlights the diversity of Persian cuisine, featuring both classic and creative dishes made with high-quality ingredients. The Mirza Ghasemi, with its smoky eggplant and rich tomato base, is particularly delicious.
Service at Maman Zari is attentive and knowledgeable. Their desserts are exceptional, providing a perfect end to the meal. The focus again is on quality, not necessarily the quantity (large portions of rice etc) typically seen in Persian restaurants. You will be full by the end regardless. Would definitely recommend!
