The food was delicious! We got the filet, au gratin potatoes, and corn. The free cocktail was wonderful. I most definitely will be back!
Disappointed: We were so excited to return to Maple & Ash after having what we considered the best brunch of our lives there shortly before the pandemic. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was a major disappointment. We made a reservation well in advance and received multiple texts reminding us of the dress code. We complied, but once there, we noticed that most guests were in shorts and even baseball caps, which made the strict messaging feel unnecessary. Our server, “Q,” gave us a good first impression, but the experience quickly unraveled. We waited over an hour and a half for our entrées, watching tables seated well after us finish their meals and leave. During this time, Q seemed to avoid our table. I asked about a cappuccino, but there were no milk alternatives available—even though I have an allergy—so I settled for iced tea. When I finished my glass, it sat empty until I specifically asked for a refill. We also had to ask for more water. When the food finally arrived, my lobster toast was burnt on the outside and mushy on the inside. Dessert service was also sloppy, with plates brought out long after the dessert itself was delivered. By then, we were simply ready to leave. To make matters worse, the bill for this underwhelming meal included a $4 charge for not ordering alcohol. While the amount itself is small, the principle is insulting given the already high prices. Overall, what should have been a special return turned into a frustrating, overpriced, and poorly executed brunch. Maple & Ash has slipped dramatically since our first visit, and I left feeling disappointed rather than delighted.
Disappointing Experience at Maple & Ash – Chicago Despite receiving two text reminders about the dress code before our reservation, we were surprised to see the downstairs hostess dressed in attire that would not have been permitted for a guest. Upon being seated, we were met with an excessively loud noise level that made conversation difficult. While the wine list is extensive, it is unnecessarily confusing. We ordered caviar with blinis, but the blinis arrived raw. It took over 25 minutes for a corrected batch to arrive. By then, my drink was finished, and it took another 20 minutes for my wine to be served. My friend's foie gras was passable, but his diver scallops were cut in half to appear as a larger portion. My halibut was excellent, ironically, it was the one dish they chose to comp when the check arrived, rather than addressing the real issue: the disappointing caviar service. While my husband and friend had finished their appetizers, I was still trying to rush through my caviar. The “crème fraîche” served with it was as hard as cream cheese and very likely was cream cheese. There seemed to be plenty of staff milling around, yet when you needed service, no one could be found. Overall, I do not recommend this location. My friend had planned to try the Miami location, but after this fiasco, he won't be going there either.
First time and took friends from out of town including two teenagers and all enjoyed the drinks and food. My wife enjoyed the extras provided with martini drinks, even nonalcoholic for the kids, and chips for the table. Steaks were delicious as were all sides we tried. Restaurant was loud and their IDGAF slogan was interesting.
Highlights were the steaks, service, and hospitality. The summer salad with watermelon tomato and straticcello was also excellent. Well made cocktails. We were celebrating my husband's BD and appreciated the amouse bouche lychee cocktail & chips. I ordered the $58 scallops and was floored when the dish came out - two scallops (each cut in half) which were very chewy. I loved having the option to pre-order a mini red velvet cake as a surprise. It was really pretty - frosted nicely like a mini wedding cake - but it tasted like nothing. It was $45. I don't mind paying a premium, but the quality wasn't there. Disapointing.
Oysters were fantastic. Brussels sprouts were underwhelming. Bone in ribeye was excellent. The fish meals were good not great. Service was excellent. It is dark but we expected and we were fine but some near us struggled. A lot of great energy. Bread was was cool.
I've been to M&A a number of times and I've never been disappointed. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, food is delicious, and the ambiance is top notch. I will be back again!
Somehow it gets better every time we go! Celebrated a special occasion and the staff made it a perfect evening for us. Greeted with a cocktail was a beautiful surprise. Food and service was spectacular
The total dining experience was nothing short of amazing. Jamie was our host and his customer service impeccable. The food get's a chef's kiss. We enjoyed 3 course with drinks.
Thank you for yet another wonderful experience, Maple & Ash! You always knock it out of the park, from the food to the service to the vibe.

I've been hearing about Maple and Ash for a while and I finally had brunch here and the overall experience was amazing. The service was great, the food was excellent and my party and I left satisfied. I'll definitely be back to explore the dinner menu.
Our server John was incredible. I wish I could have tipped him even more but going here was splurging for me lol. I couldn't have been more impressed with food, drinks, service, desert ambiance etc.. my wife and I were blown away. Best dinner we've ever had in Chicago!
If you have the opportunity to enjoy brunch at Maple & Ash, you'll never forget it. This was our Chicago trip highlight without a doubt. Beautiful space, cool music, attentive service. Runners, busboys, and servers were choreographed with precision. Free Welcome cocktail and amuse (with caviar!) We ordered wagyu carpaccio to share, then King Crab Benedict and Lobster toast. Hubby had bourbon cocktail and I had yummy espresso martini. Really loved the entire experience!
Overall, it was a great experience. We were seated promptly, and our server was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The food arrived hot and was absolutely delicious. The restaurant uses text messaging to communicate, which is convenient but a bit glitchy—I had trouble rescheduling and ended up using OpenTable and calling directly to get it sorted out. One thing to note: the noise level inside was much higher than expected. Between the crowd and the loud music, it was difficult to hear the person sitting across from me. Still, the service and food made it a worthwhile visit.
Other restaurants should take note. We did the chef dinner and it was over the top fantastic food. Every dish was terrific. Waiter was great; just the right amount of attentive without being too much. He was for sure a big part of our terrific experience. The entire evening was epic- but it was not a cheap experience so get ready for sticker shock. We will save our nickels and dimes to return one day soon!
