Ahh, I so wanted to write a positive experience at Marge’s this evening. I feel inclined to share my experience in case someone was hoping to have a positive family dining experience with their family.
My fiancé and I thought long and hard about where to take my family to dinner for Christmas this evening, as they do not eat out much. As longtime Bridgeport residents, I thought Marge’s would remind them of one of their longtime favorite (closed) restaurants, Schaller’s Pump, which was opened just a few years before Marge’s.
My fiance and I arrived at 6:30 and were told there would be a 45 min wait. Totally fine, we asked if we could sit at the bar and did so. The rest of our family joined, and I am not exaggerating that we waited 20 minutes at the bar for a menu. I ended up finding one on an empty table for us to share.
After we were served drinks, we noted a family (father and 4 children) walk in and ask for a table. The host pointed at us, presumably indicating that we were waiting for the same size table and arrived before them. Unfortunately, we noticed that they were seated before us. The food and busser at Marge’s exceeded our expectations, but the actions of one employee that seemingly ran the show made our experience fall short. We consistently felt dismissed and the family being sat before us as we had been waiting for 20 minutes sealed the deal for us. Best of luck. Gorgeous pic of chef’s French onion soup that brings the rating from 0 stars to 2.

Marge’s Still is amazing. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. Owner Lisa is very nice. The restaurant is in good condition. Amazing pot pie. Must come back. 10/10.
Food was good. Had a fun time with friends.

Seems like a Nice place, great neighborhood. I've sent tons of people there, However the night I actually go, at 9 PM, they say the kitchen. Is clandestine they close at 10. This is fine Ai understand the kitchen to bar ratio, however, listing only say they are open til later. I did see other still getting food when I walked in. It took a moment to be acknowledged.
Weird experience.
My date and I started by ordering drinks. A few minutes later, we decided what food to get. She ordered the hummus, I ordered the chicken pot pie. The drinks came out like normal, however, at least 20 minutes go by and I notice the table near us who arrived after us had already gotten their food.
How long does it take for hummus and a pot pie? Not 20+ minutes.
I then asked the waitress what the ETA would be for our food and she says it’ll be out soon. A couple minutes late she comes back to the table and says the order was actually never put it the system….great.
Food came out a few minutes later and it tasted pretty good. I ended up having a bit of a spill, though, so I cleaned it up, explained what happened, and asked the server for another napkin. Surprise, surprise, she never actually came back with another one so I ended up just using the same one my date was using.
Food was good once it finally came out but if I hadn’t asked for an ETA who knows how long it would’ve taken for them to notice. On top of that, there was absolutely no acknowledgment on their part of the mistakes or the inconvenience. I’d never expect anything for free, but you’d expect SOMETHING to be done given the subpar service.
All around odd experience and I likely won’t be back anytime soon.

Great neighborhood bar, moderately priced. Servers and bartenders are friendly and attentive.
Not rowdy or loud and has a classic pub atmosphere. It's the oldest bar in Chicago, but it's very well cared for.
They're known for their chicken pot pie and for good reason. I ordered it out of curiosity and it actually probably is the best I've had.
Will obviously be back.

Decent food, nothing too crazy, but we waited a long time before the waitress took our order. She also came by and shook our drinks to see how full they were, that was kinda weird. Place was dimly lit and it was easy enough to carry a conversation.

The chicken pot pie was wroth the price and outstanding! It mainly had chunks of potatos, chicken and snow beans. I love how crisp it is outside and creamy inside.
