Although I tend to compare it with the 1st Margie’s, I loved that the desserts were exactly the same! Great service as well.
Great Sunday.
This is my favourite ice cream spot in the city, it's so charming and it's like going back in time with all the sundaes and splits they offer. The vibe inside the store is lovely too and the people are very friendly. Can't recommend this place enough if you want an old school ice cream parlor experience
Margie’s Candies is one of those rare Chicago spots that actually lives up to the hype and still feels like a neighborhood secret. Walking in feels like stepping back in time, with vintage booths, a marble soda fountain, and old-school decor that make it feel like a true classic Chicago ice cream parlor. The sundaes are enormous and perfect for sharing, served in big glass dishes and loaded with whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry, and the homemade hot fudge (served warm in its own little pitcher) is easily some of the best in the city.
There’s a huge menu of sundaes, banana splits, and shakes, so whether you go for a jumbo specialty or a simple hot fudge sundae, you’re going to leave happy. Yes, there can be a wait, but the friendly staff, fun energy, and the feeling that you’re sitting in a piece of Chicago history make it absolutely worth it. If you live here or are just visiting, Margie’s is a must-visit spot – five stars without hesitation.
Delicious!
Wirth the wait!
Goos candy
Honestly I come here fairly often. I absolutely love this place! I am never disappointed.
When I lived in Chicago, I loved going here. It was like time travel back to the Sixties (I didn‘t live during that time period but I could imagine…). Their strawberry/vanilla malts were to die for. Now and then, a skinny little boy was sitting all by himself at one of the tables, in front of him a huge serving of ice cream - was it their son or their grandson? I don’t know. But it must have been heaven for him growing up in an ice cream parlor.
Fond memories of a wonderful place.
Amazing chocolate milkshake

This place is amazing. Hands down the best ice cream I’ve ever had. All the flavors they have and the little wafers that come with your order are the perfect touch. Their ice cream tastes perfect and fresh everytime, their pistachio and coffee are my personal favorites along with vanilla , but coffee and pistachio just taste better at Margie’s. The drive to get there is very nice as well. Each outing at Margie’s is a new great memory made to be cherished for years to come.
