Martyrs' is a unique venue that offers an intimate setting for live performances. The space may show signs of wear, but the staff is friendly and attentive. The bar staff is excellent, and the drinks are perfect, including the popular Cornmeal. The venue has a good sound system, and the center floor is open for standing and dancing. It is a very fun and friendly bar with a dance floor, especially lively on Sunday afternoons when the Hoyle Brothers perform. Sometimes, there is a short 2-step lesson before the band starts, adding to the enjoyable atmosphere. While it may not be ideal when it’s not crowded, the overall vibe is often fabulous, supported by local acts, national touring bands, and even world music festivals. The venue is known for supporting unique Chicago acts and has a family-run feel with staff that makes visitors feel at home.
