Mather's is certainly more than a cafe. I hadn't been there in a while, but when I received a mailer about a $3.00 breakfast with two eggs, hash browns & 2 pieces of toast, I decided go make it a point to stop there for breakfast. Beside the restaurant, or cafe, if you prefer, they also have classes for a number of different things. Ordering was very easy and they bring the food to you, at the table you choose. Everything was hot and tasty. Well, worth the special price.
Excellent show of The First Ladies: Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon and Betty Ford
First time there didn't know what to expect, good food, and soup was only 35 cents that day, they charge whatever the temperature is that day, kinda cool.
Friendly people, good food lots of activities.
Good meeting place for friends. Good food and nice inviting atmosphere
Love it . The best kept secret.Keep it going.
Great food, delicious, affordable, nice people, wonderful workers always there to help you.I will like thank the owner of Mathers for coming up with such a great idea of a seniors place like this, where we can eat out more often, meet other seniors, and have activities.
This restaurant offers excellent food for very affordable prices. Owned by a non-profit foundation dedicated to the welfare of senior citizens, this restaurant also offers classes there, such as meditation, exercise and yoga. I was taken there by a businessman, and we were joined by his lady friend. She ordered a tropical chicken salad which came with garlic toast, a meal which she liked. We ordered the grilled swordfish entree which came with a cup of homemade split pea soup, which was velvety and rich tasting. The swordfish was prepared in a Mediterranean fashion with olive oil and spices. The fish was cooked perfectly, the texture was flaky and moist and the flavor was meaty and excellent. We drank raspberry ice tea. The entrees cost only $9.99 and the ice tea was $1.35. The restaurant has a no tipping policy, so instead I purchased a knitted hat and a small piece of jewelry made by volunteers. I will learn more about this foundation. I was really impressed.I
This place is so cute and friendly! The food was so delicious and super affordable! If you’re looking for a wholesome place with great food go here. Definitely better than Cozy Corner.
Awesome spot! More than just a restaurant, there are plenty of activities for everyone here! The staff is very friendly, and they all want to make sure that you have an enjoyable visit. Every time I come for breakfast or lunch at Mather's, I always have an A+ experience. Mather's is truly more than a cafe!

A wonderful 1st time experience! Amazing food, inviting atmosphere, engaged and knowledgeable staff, wide range of holistic health events/presentations; what a great find for a new Chicagoland resident. I will definitely be returning!
I exercised, had lunch and attended a legal seminar. The exercise class and lunch were very reasonably priced. The seminar was free.. Mather’s offers programs for seniors and low cost breakfast and lunch for anyone.
Good food, inexpensive and clean. Lots of activities for seniors.
Definitely more than a cafe!
Mather has been servicing the senior community for many years. While the cafe is a great place for people to come and take a class and/or just hang out, the cafe is a bargain gem! Prices are half to a third of what conventional restaurants charge, and the food is freshly prepared. Not fancy - you get plastic plates and cups- but the cafe is clean and attractive. If you are alone and feel friendly you can usually find someone to chat. If not, people are respectful and leave you alone. Go for the food, but also to feel connected to the community.
