The food is hit or miss. Mostly miss. I can HIGHLY recommend the vegan/gluten free french toast. It was delicious. HOWEVER the vegan pancakes were awful. Just awful. I didn't even finish eating 1. It was sooo terribly dry. Even after pouring gallons of maple syrup on them, they were still hard to choke down. Think Lisa Douglas's hotcakes from Green Acres... Yeah. The coffee is super good! They're accommodating with oatmilk if you're dairy free. The tofu is not seasoned at all. The food is bland, which I'm assuming is because they want it to be healthy and natural? Whatever the case may be, it sucked spending $50 for 2 coffees, pancakes I couldn't eat, and a tasteless tofu plate.

My son and I came to Meli's for breakfast during a weekend trip to the city. I discovered the restaurant because I'd Google searched for breakfast spots near our hotel, and I'm so glad we chose it! The staff were all very friendly, service was fast and the food was great. I got a chicken chorizo bowl that was delicious with a pepper Mary to drink and my son really enjoyed his chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream and chocolate syrup. I would absolutely choose Meli again for a meal!

We loved the food! But we had an Issue with one of the workers (one with the mustache) that tried to kick us out because we wanted to see the Chicago marathon meanwhile we eaten out breakfast. He has attempted to fight with most the customers and was really rude. The rest of the waiters are really nice though, just one rude guy.

The pancakes were fragrant and fluffy, coffee gets refilled quickly, and the veggie omelette I had came packed with the right mix of veggies and eggs and it was really good. Atmosphere has a nice bistro bustle to it, and overall a great choice for breakfast or brunch.

I ordered a plain vegan pancake with no toppings, vegan scramble, and a soy latte. The bartender repeated the order back and messed up so I repeated again. Both items came out with butter (defeating the purpose of ordering vegan) and my pancakes came out with all of the toppings (bananas and strawberries). I can’t eat strawberries due to an allergy and when I noted this, his resolution was he could take it back to scrape the fruit off. I opted not to eat them.
Each item was also bland. I took one bite of the bottom pancake and it tasted like cardboard and was a little too nervous to eat more since I doubted they were vegan. Honestly tasted like gluten free.
I got a coffee, the skin hydrating juice, and the Shashuka bowl! All were delish. The meal had great spices and the perfect poached eggs! The juice tasted very fresh. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I’d come here again.

Visited earlier today and have to put this review in to say it's amazing. My wife had porridge and a smoothie which she loved. My sister in law had omelette and I had the chicken and waffles. Really loved this place and will definitely be coming back before we head home
