Prices are very reasonable and employees are polite. Food quality is also good compared with what you pay. But there is a big drawback about this place: everything is really really salty - salad, rice, kabobs, steak ... Using this much salt is not healthy at all. I could easily give this place a 5 if they could use half of the salt they used in my food. For now, 3 is a fair score.

Quick easy dining with plenty of options. The Italian beef bun that is used gets soggy quick.

Amazing food and great service! Salad was easily 2 meals worth!

A go-to place of the neighborhood. Gyros and half-chicken plates are the best.

Stopped there after our zoo visit and were able to eat inside, as we found two tables for the 6 of us. If you can’t find a place to sit, there is a city park you can walk to that is a block to the east. Food wise, multiple choices as we had cheeseburgers, chicken tenders patty melts that were all good. The malts were excellent and the Gyros looked very good, probably should have tried those. It’s a small corner take out place that looks to be run by a family who was very friendly to our group. Try this after a long day at Lincoln Park Zoo as it is only a 5 minute walk west if the park. Plus there are 2 bus stops right by the restaurant.

I don’t go to Mello’s often but, when I do, I enjoy the food. The smells wafting out the door are like a siren song. Good burgers, shrimp plates, and more. Reasonably priced and easy to pick up to take home or eat in.
