I am totally disgusted with Mesler. The food was okay and service could be improved. Had to wait 10 minutes for coffee and awhile for the bill. But what really made my husband and I upset was when they automatically added an 18% gratuity to our bill (2 people) with no prior notification. If you don’t look at your bill which many people don’t, then your’er tipping twice. This is ridiculous and a form of dishonesty!!! We will never eat at this establishment again!!!

EDIT as of August 4, 2025:
Many thanks to Mesler’s Food and Beverage Manager Ms. Harris for her fast response and resolving this matter. Ms. Harris replied not even a day later and provided the opportunity to have a better experience. I went to Mesler for brunch the following Saturday. The hostesses greeted us. BOTH ladies were very pleasant, approachable, and very sweet. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were on point. We weren’t rushed, and we enjoyed the DJ as he played a lot of Old School R&B tunes and ran into friends. I hope those who I had the first experience with last week follow the lead from those who worked Saturday afternoon as changed my mind. I will return in the future. Thank you again. Much appreciated!

Food was great. Our waiter Al was fantastic. The is I have, is the host Frederick and a young lady who worked there as well-I’m not sure what her position was. Our reservation was 7:30pm. The host wasn’t the most friendly person-very stoic and unapproachable. Fast forward to our party at our table. After placing our order for entrees and having served our appetizers and drinks, Frederick asked if he could move us to the other side of the restaurant because they had to mop and they were closing soon. We said no. Why should we? We had a party of six, we already placed our order, AND we were in the middle of our reservation. He didn’t like the fact that we didn’t move. We kept a menu for one quest who ran behind as he was stuck at work. My friend placed the menu behind us on a ledge. The host had an issue with that and had us remove it. Okay, fine.
I guess as they were getting close to closing, Frederick and the young lady walked passed our table a couple times-I’m assuming they were checking on is to see how close we were to finishing up. The entire table felt uncomfortable. Then, the lights came on-they were turned all the way up. Our waiter came to take desert orders and we explained how we felt and asked if we needed to leave. He said no, made sure we got our desert, and when we asked if they could dim down the lights, he took care of it.
I live in the neighborhood. There are a ton of great places to dine in the area. Our guests were from out of town. Although the food and server were great, the host and young lady really did not represent your business in the best way. To my understanding, your host was short with our friend who cane last. I’m hoping someone address this as this isn’t the first time I had issues at Mesler. I don’t come here too often, and the reason is because of the energy we experienced last night.

Tisha, Arlene and Maurice definitely contributed to an overall wonderful customer experience. The restaurant, patio and bar, all a total vibe. Food was great and drinks were delicious.

Service here is horrible. Avoid at all cost. I was here for over an hour before anyone acknowledged me and then waited another 45 mins before my drink arrived. I was only here for drinks. Such a disappointment! And the server had an attitude!

If you have shots for the coffee ….Please show the price on the menu. The restaurant attendant should’ve have said the shots of liquor were $12 a piece for crème liquor that is not Bailey’s. Over priced for no particular reason at brunch to have a coffee & Liquor drink.

Buttermilk pancakes were awesome and shrimp and grits are a must have!!!

The only thing is that you absolutely feel like you're in a hotel lobby. It's beautiful but there is that aspect.

I also had to ask for my syrup and salt and pepper for my eggs, because the server forgot, just a small nitpick.

Gratiuity is already included but is not more than 15% so I added more.

I like this place — it’s not my first time here — but this was the first time I was forced to pay an 18% tip. It was just the two of us having breakfast, and I found it surprising and disappointing that the tip was automatically added to the bill without any notice.

The server’s attitude was somewhat hostile, although he did fulfill his duties. The food is good, though nothing exceptional. The place itself is nice and the atmosphere is pleasant.

However, the mandatory tip added to the bill without informing the customer in advance felt inappropriate and left a bad impression. Tipping should not be mandatory, especially when the service isn’t exceptional. It should be earned, not enforced.
