A local coffee shop owner in Des Moines and a friend recommended Metric to me and my husband. We love it and come whenever we are in Chicago. Today we had the Maize Mocha special (again) and shared a scallion pastry and passion fruit monkey bread. We want to go back to get these items again now. The coffee, pastries and service are all beyond fantastic! There is no public restroom or indoor seating. The outdoor seating is nice when weather allows. I think street parking is usually...
The coffee at Metric is my favorite in the city. On top of that, the staff is so friendly and welcoming. I’m kind of a regular and they always remember my order which I appreciate :)

stopped here right as they were opening before we got back on the road and it was a beauty for sure. the decor, the vibe, the slow peaceful aesthetic it gave, very calming. service great, coffee great, decent variety on pastries. definitely a wonderful spot.
