I've had the opportunity to meet with many other business owners over a cup of coffee here. Everyone seems so happy to work at Metropolis. The atmosphere is very inviting. What a lovely spot.

Coffee Coffee Coffee. One of the earliest pioneers of small batch craft brew in Chicagoland. Currently running a Free the Frogs campaign. Not sure if thats code for something meaningful or just plain fun. Just south of Loyola University the shop’s colors are red and turquoise. They can their own and they have an awesome multi bike rack. Gaze at the lake, celebrate madness.

Great vibes, friendly staff, and good coffee. Went in before a conference and got one of their specialty drinks. It was fantastic. They also had a wide selection of sweet and savory pastries. They also have a ton of local artwork on display/for sale. Was a fun place to visit and will be going back at least once before I leave Chicago.

They make an excellent cappuccino and it is always fun to work there for a little while. It is a great coffee shop to have in the area and worth a visit.

The employees here are so incomprehensibly rude, I truly don't understand it. Asking questions seems like a grave insult here.

I love the oat milk matcha paired with the lentil hand pie and chocolate croissant—never disappointed. That said, I enjoyed the egg and cheese hand pie even more than the lentil one.

I asked for the order TO GO.

The cashier set the box with my croissant on the counter with the top open. I repeated that I asked for it "to go". She said "I can close it for you" - which she did. Did she think "to go" meant walking out with the top open on a food item?

Then my drink came - it was filled to the top and I had to carefully walk over to the supplies counter to get a lid and carefully put the top on so the drink wouldn't carefully spill over the side.

Finally, when I took a sip of the matcha latte it was lukewarm. if you order a HOT latte - you should get a HOT latte.

Perhaps the barista was in a hurry to get back to his book.

I'm not the person who wants to ask for their drink to be remade - so I went on with my day.

However, I was given the strong impression no one cared about or understood the idea of being a "service" business.

And yes, I tipped ahead when I paid for my order.
