Today 2/6/25 my family and I dined at this restaurant. The lady server offered us if we want to eat in a japanese style private room or just the table outside. We chose the private room. The moment we sat down, we were hearing a guy scolding the lady server telling her why you offered the private room to them, private rooms are only for 6 people above. My family and I didn’t pay attention and proceeded with ordering our food and ate our dinner. One old lady arrived (we think that’s the owner or manager), then again the lady server got scolded again for offering and sitting us in the private room. I told the waitress if there is any problem with us sitting here because the sit was offered to us and we didn’t know about the rules for that private room. We will comply to the rules if they told us from the start that it’s for 6 people above. My thing here is, that old lady and whoever that guy is were very rude. I’m a Japanese national wanting to eat Japanese food in a restaurant that were served by non Japanese people. Those people (the old lady and that guy) were shameless because if you want to offer an authentic japanese experience, you should be respectful to the customers. Japanese people in general our well mannered people and do not tolerate disrespect. The waitresses are great servers.

Great local Japanese place with good sushi and (amazingly) awesome margaritas! Great for a family dinner or group hang out in the private rooms. Highly recommended!

Do not ever go to this place if you’re a muslim hijabi. The old lady (the owner) was racist and islamophobic. She told my cousin who was with 3 little girls to take her hijab off because she “lives in America” Mind you, this women was Chinese herself with her traditional gown on. How are you being racist when you’re a person of color yourself??? She then proceeds to tell three innocent girls to not wear a hijab or they’ll get criticized. There is literally racial profiling and islamophobic people working here.
Not only that but she also ASKED and forced my cousin to give a tip. She then snatches the money from her hand forcefully, which btw is putting her hands on her. How can you even ask for a tip from a customer you were racist too and be rude about it? I’m actually shocked by this situation, it’s 2024. Honestly, they should take their restaurant back to their country. The people that work here are racist, don’t recommend at all 0/5 I’m pretty sure they spit on the food that was served.
Roberto roll and the Red eye are my favorite

Been coming here since I was a kid and it's truly the best of the best...I been to many fancy sushi places but nothing beats Chef Roberto's rolls. Every roll is awesome...Spider crab, Eel, California roll, Roberto roll are all a MUST! I would say it's the only sushi spot where getting the big sushi boat is worth it. The sides are really good & refreshing too. I love the Miso soup.

Okay experience on second visit. This visit we felt rushed to order and finish meal. Good miso soup. Tempura was okay just a little greasy. Chicken teriyaki was very sweet. No tea offered?? Wooden chairs are unpadded and a bit hard and uncomfortable after about an hour. Pay to park on street.

I recently dined at Midori and was disappointed by their billing practices, which affected my overall experience. Our initial handwritten bill was $30, but upon paying with a credit card, we were charged $37. We later noticed a handwritten "S/C fee" added to the bill after our card was processed. When queried, the staff described it as a service charge but did not offer any adjustment, despite the fee not being disclosed upfront.Service charges are not uncommon, but they are usually communicated clearly before billing, especially when they apply regardless of party size or dining format. The lack of transparency in adding this charge without prior notice felt deceptive and impacted our willingness to tip additionally, which we initially planned to do.While the food and service were satisfactory, the undisclosed fees significantly marred our dining experience. Future patrons should be aware of these charges and reconsider leaving additional tips since a service fee may already be included. Transparency in pricing is crucial, and I hope Midori will consider this feedback to improve their service.
