Work of art! I would recommend Diane to anyone. Blissfully talented at reasonable prices, even for Chicago. I shot Diane some pics for my parents 50th wedding anniversary cake and she nailed it. Customized fondant gold painted flowers and she froze it for me so it would keep for the car ride to my parents house in Wisconsin. 5 stars for Mindful Baking!
Haven't even tried but I love ther story
I ordered a carrot cake for a 60th birthday party and when I called to follow up on the status of the order, on the day of party, they said the baker got the date wrong and they cannot deliver it. I had to beg them to get something for me as I had lot of people coming to the party. They did deliver a cake after the scheduled time for party and it was too sweet to put anyone in a diabetic coma. Also the cake part was too hard and couldn’t taste carrot at all.Half of the cake was cream cheese which was also extremely sweet. The worst carrot cake we ever had. Everyone in the party complained about the cake. After spending a lot of money for the cake this was a disaster. Do not recommend this place at all. Besides, when I placed the order for a half sheet carrot cake initially they quoted $170. I got another quote from a different vendor which was way below $170. So when I called to cancel the order, the owner called me back and matched the price from the other vendor. Overall very bad experience. Do not recommend this place at all.
This is probably the best customer service experience I've ever had. Chantel was so nice and very helpful. My friends and I wanted dessert before our 6hr drive and she gave us ice for the drive without us even asking. The desserts were also soooo good and I will definitely be coming back on my next trip to Chicago.
I had 2 mindful baking muffins from Fancy Plants Cafe and they were both delicious. Thank you!
I tried:the snickers mini pieReview: I was expecting a more rich taste like a snickers. It has a more mild taste. Is it missing peanut butter? I'm not sure, but not what I was expecting. Good in its own way, Though!3 different kinds of brownies- which I'm not sure of the names.2 of the brownies were moist and rich! Very good! One of the brownies that I think of the cookie brownie was really dry and thick. I didn't like it.Lastly, the strawberry shortcake, which was very disappointing. It is thick, dense, dry, and the frosting was also very dry and barely there. It's unfrosted and ready to eat, but it reminded me of cake I've frozen without the right container and it dried out.I comment all this in hopes that it can be used to improve, if this is something others have said. If course, I may be among the few who have this opinion. The food is overall good and I will reorder the brownies and try other things!
I love Diane and everything she makes! My son has a dairy allergy so I feel safe that he can eat anything she makes. I’m so happy she has her store front bakery now too!
My partner and I love this place! It’s always great to have a spot in the neighborhood with allergy-friendly and vegan options. They have amazing coffee too.
Very friendly shop, excellent selection of Vegan/gluten free items, the muffins alone are worth the trip, so happy they finally have a retail location!
Their treats are so good! And gluten free ❤️ I had a giant cookie brownie that was so good

My husband got my gluten-free birthday cake here this weekend. The cake isn’t really cake at all, it’s more like a dense, gummy/tacky brownie texture. Three layers and the top of each layer was hard, crispy and slightly burnt. The frosting was a bit oily and gritty as well. Additionally, he’d asked for it to say “happy birthday” on the cake, which they did not do. For $65 we expected so much better, unfortunately this “cake” isn’t super edible. Honestly, I’ve had better results from any box mix I’ve tried at home. Super disappointed and would not recommend.Side note: I also got horribly sick the next day after eating one slice of this, and the cake was the only new/different thing I’d eaten all week. Can’t guarantee what made me ill, but I have a #1 suspect.
I’m not even vegan or gluten free, but this place is amazing! Everything is so sweet and there’s so many fun flavors of stuff. Also, I found this place through an anti-food waste app which also makes me love it 200 times more.
I visited this company’s booth at a Chicago market and am truly disappointed this business was even allowed to be a vendor. Horrible customer service and presentation to begin the transaction. The worker wasn’t wearing any gloves when handling products, no hair net (not even a headband), and a very unprofessional appearance. After asking allergy related questions, I was given a nice eye roll and short bark of a response. The cakes and cupcakes were melted from the heat and the bread was covered with condensation (odd). Between the rude service and careless appearance, I’ve decided to take my allergy conscious business elsewhere.
Didn't actually get to go because the hours don't match Google's. The sign outside the door says they are only open on Fridays from 2-5.
My vegan friend graduated with a doctorate in Nursing and this triple layer cookies & creme cake that her sister ordered from Mindful Baking turned out beautiful and delicious!
