Our family was looking for a dairy-free alternative tres-leches customized cake, and while they did well with the decor, what we received was absolutely not a tres-leches cake and tasted exactly like carrot cake instead with the texture and even the color. This company does not know how to make tres-leches cake. I would, however, give them a try on their other, more original products. They are a bit overpriced for the taste & quality in my opinion. It did not supply a wow factor for our guests, especially the birthday person who has an affinity for tres-leches. The staff was friendly.
The owner was absolutely amazing! She was so kind as she showed us around her new space. My husband and I couldn't decide what to get so we loved that there were multiple flavors of treats in the containers. We will definitely be back again!
The service was alright and the cafe was cute— I was quite excited. I’m not gluten-free so maybe that’s where I went wrong. I got the pesto “tuna” sandwich to go. Sadly, the bread was rock hard, and the sandwich was poorly constructed and lacked flavor. What a bummer! Updated from previous review on 2025-09-18
Sooo glad I finally checked this place out. Such a quaint spot with a huge dessert selection, made-to-order breakfast / lunch menu and coffee beverages! Great prices, super friendly staff & cute space. I got the biscuit egg sandwich with a dirty chai and they were to die for. They also have a weekend exclusive brunch menu. Just wish they had earlier hours during the week. Highly recommend!!
I don't even know how to adequately describe the things I tried - they were just odd! Such strange textures, beyond the usual gluten-free struggles. The only thing I liked was the buttercream topping. I wanted to love this place, but I'm afraid it's a miss for me! Updated from previous review on 2025-05-30
I was at Kenosha farmers market and was very excited to see a vegan gluten free cupcakes and brownies. This is my first time trying this business. I wasn’t disappointed the cup cakes are moist and yummy. I wasn’t surprised to see that the location is Chicago which is great cause when I visit Chicago I’m stopping by for fresh cupcakes. And feel safe not be cross contaminated. Thank you
I had the chocolate brownie and it tasted nice, but it was a little gritty. I appreciated the option.
Only had a breakfast sandwich as I was taking advantage of a late arrival at an office nearby and this would be blunch. Sandwich flavoring was great, it was hearty and plenty of potatoes, the box was substantially heavier, and I’m much fuller than anticipated. Not sure about the cheese and egg components separately, but together it was a good 3/4 of a sandwich; the last 1/4 being fork food :-) The bread was great for gf and better than I had expected. A bigger surprise was that the price for the sandwich, vegan/gf and the neighborhood was very reasonable. I’m not gf and I’ve had their products before with gf family and I find them to be great for gf and vegan baked goods. I did pass the willpower test tho and stuck with the sandwich.
Work of art! I would recommend Diane to anyone. Blissfully talented at reasonable prices, even for Chicago. I shot Diane some pics for my parents 50th wedding anniversary cake and she nailed it. Customized fondant gold painted flowers and she froze it for me so it would keep for the car ride to my parents house in Wisconsin. 5 stars for Mindful Baking!
Haven't even tried but I love ther story

I'm not sure why my experience differs so much from the norm, but while the coffee was good, the food was mediocre. The texture on the ube muffin, confetti cake, and blondies was grainy, and the brownies, while tasty, were essentially fudge. The savory meals fared better, but the eggs didn't taste as much like the real thing, and the bread, while tasty, was a little under seasoned.
The lattes and food are beyond delicious. There is a fun assortment of bakery and desserts that - it's hard to choose what to get because of all of the great options and 100% vegan. I look very forward to returning.
I was traveling through to WI. I wanted something to eat. so hungry. They stayed open later for me to indulge my sweet tooth. exceeded standards
MB has been working hard to get a storefront for years. Hopefully they get one soon (they now have a storefront!). I’m not even slightly into gf baked goods. They are never as good as gluten baked goods, but I’ve been very impressed with MB and their products. They are very good. Updated from previous review on 2023-12-31
I ordered a carrot cake for a 60th birthday party and when I called to follow up on the status of the order, on the day of party, they said the baker got the date wrong and they cannot deliver it. I had to beg them to get something for me as I had lot of people coming to the party. They did deliver a cake after the scheduled time for party and it was too sweet to put anyone in a diabetic coma. Also the cake part was too hard and couldn’t taste carrot at all.Half of the cake was cream cheese which was also extremely sweet. The worst carrot cake we ever had. Everyone in the party complained about the cake. After spending a lot of money for the cake this was a disaster. Do not recommend this place at all. Besides, when I placed the order for a half sheet carrot cake initially they quoted $170. I got another quote from a different vendor which was way below $170. So when I called to cancel the order, the owner called me back and matched the price from the other vendor. Overall very bad experience. Do not recommend this place at all.
