I do wanna see Taiwanese food exploring the higher end market but this is not it. Taipei Cafe has better and more authentic Taiwanese beef noodles

The vibe inside is modern and fun. The service dragged. The plates are small, more like tapas size. You can share but you’ll have to order more food lol the chicken roulade was disgusting don’t get that. The fried chicken was ok but it doesn’t come with a dipping sauce so it was dry AF. The waiter seemed kinda in his own world he could have gone out of his way to suggest sauces or something. We did ask for hot sauce and got a look like we were crazy lol that’s when we found out there are no sauces ? they have chili oil and that was good but we got it when we barely had any food left to use it. I ordered the vegan noodles which never came and I had told the waiter and he was like it’s coming ? I wanted to eat that with all the other food I got but ended up getting it 20min after the small plates were gone. Do I recommend this place? No. I know it’s Andersonville but come on guys you can give a little bit more of a portion and have sauces. Yes, it you have a tiny appetite and a large wallet ?

I had the pleasure of trying Minyoli for dinner and brunch on different days. This perfectly lit, authentic and comfy restaurant is now one of my favorite spots in Chicago. I highly recommend it! Everything was so delicious. Customer service was top notch, our waiter and staff were very knowledgeable about the menu.

Dinner Favorites:

• Taiwan Old Fashioned Cocktail – Best old fashioned I have had ever.
• Sweet Corn
• Special Night Market Steak – I was told it was very rare to see this dish in a restaurant in the U.S. So, I had to try it. This steak/noodle dish arrived at the table on a sizzling skillet. The noodles were stir-fried at the top and crispy on the bottom from the skillet. The steak was cooked medium well which was the best steak I have had in a while. I really enjoyed this dish, but it was a special and may not be on the menu for that long.

Brunch Favorites:
The brunch service only happens on Sunday so make sure you go early.

• Classic Fan Tuan
• Taiwanese Egg Crepe with sweet corn and basil
• House made Mi Jiang toasted peanut served hot. It comes as a soup and pairs nicely with the Taiwanese rice roll.

Parking: There is paid parking on the street but I was able to find free parking on a side street nearby.

Absolutely delicious food and superb service! Thank you for extending your gracious hospitality Rich, Jeffrey and X. Fantastic food and atmosphere.

Andersonville is very fortunate to have such a world class Chef right here in our neighborhood! The layers of flavor are unique and amazing.

Make sure to try the delicious pineapple tart with housemate coconut ice cream! Perfection!

So glad you’re here, Rich!

So excited to have a Taiwanese restaurant in Chicago owned by Taiwanese! Relaxing, casual, and clean atmosphere coupled with some of Taiwan's most well known home style dishes.... what's not to love! We enjoyed prompt service and delicious small plates, noodles and rice dishes...all yummy! The flavors remind me of Taiwan with a touch of innovation, while anchored in Taiwanese tradition. I believe they even make the noodles fresh in house...the texture is perfectly QQ (chewy/bouncy!)

This is not Szechuan, this is not Canto style, this is not your typical Chinese food, so please note this when you read some of the less than positive reviews. Also, I prefer to give family-owned small businesses a chance and not immediately write them off when the first few weeks of opening service has a few delays and kinks.

Highly recommend everyone give this Taiwanese food a try!

I’ll give you the pros and cons. The pros: atmosphere was very nice, staff were helpful, and the food is served timely. And yes - the noodles are GREAT.

The cons: I’ll put it this way, your Asian parents will ask you where the flavor is.

Eating at this part of town is a reminder that you’re paying for location and atmosphere over food. Which is ok - as long as you’re able to appreciate what is enjoyable!

We got their fried chicken Taiwanese chicken as an appetizer and, in my opinion, this dish had the most flavor. Some friends got the black noodles and it was okay. Their chilled sesame noodles were tasty and what I craved to eat that day. I just wish there was more umami and commitment to flavor.

If you never had Taiwanese food, you would think this place is good. Best item we ate was the fried chicken and beef shank appetizers. Night market steak special was supposed to be medium rare but was still mooing. Other dishes had very little/no flavor. My son even said the noodles were better at the food court at TPE. Wanted to like it, but could practically make all of the dishes at home. And they even charged a $1.00 for chili sauce ! Plus 1% to split the bill.

My husband and I just returned from Taiwan and we had wanted to try this place for a couple months, so we met a friend here this evening. We were all very disappointed. First of all, it is very, very expensive for what we were given. Secondly the food that we had was extremely oily and actually unpleasant in the case of our friend's (fortunately he was credited for his dish). My Taiwanese husband was also very disappointed by the taste of the noodles. I am afraid we will not be going back. Despite the lovely service and nice atmosphere.

Incredibly strange vibe here. Every surface and every piece of furniture in this place is utterly sterile and looks brand new and untouched. I think the lights were all fluorescent. There were five employees working the place and two tables with people, including mine, during the dinner rush on a Friday. Every word I said at any volume was audible through the entire restaurant. The signature chicken dish appeared to be Costco chicken nuggets with cinnamon on top. Credit where it's due: the wait staff was doing a great job. But everything was way too expensive, food was middling at best, deeply unsettling and disquieting atmosphere. I felt worse when I left than when I came in.

thought it was good but not great. I might go back to try brunch, but I don’t need to go back for dinner. Sesame noodles were super meh, and the appetizers were good but really needed that mayo and chili oil. Service is great though!

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews of the food. I ordered takeout and got the cucumber salad, popcorn chicken, trumpet mushrooms, and tallow noodles.

I’ll be honest, I don’t know what traditional Taiwanese food is supposed to taste like, but I loved everything I ate. I’ll revisit my review when I eat there in person.

Everything was great. They did a great job redoing the space and making it their own after Land & Lake closed.

I'm new to Taiwanese cuisine and the server came over and explained each menu item thoughtfully and thoroughly. We had kombu, sweet potato fries, fried chicken, century egg and tofu, consommé, cold sesame noodles, and mushroom rice. Everything was delicious! The plum powder on the chicken and the sweet potato fries was really unusual but went well with everything. They need to start selling this in a shaker to use on food at home!

Wonderful service, environment, and food. They even have eco-friendly to go containers. Can't wait to go back.

This place is great.
