4-stars for flavor. 1/2 star for everything else... Does not give adequate sauce for the amount of chicken ordered. Inadequate amount of servings for their sides could be more, given the "family" dinner option. Sweet plantains, mean ripe plantains, not under ripen plantains to where the entire order was hard and inedible.
I used to order from this restaurant all the time until I moved to the far burbs. I was planning a visit next time I go to Chicago because I love and miss the food here but I was in shock when I saw their high prices online. Prices sure changed from when I used to order.
The chicken was nicely seasoned and very tasty. The sides (tostones, yucca, black beans) were unspectacular save for the black beans, which were Really good. They put a coating on their yucca and bake or fry it instead of serving it plain with mojo de ajo (oil and garlic sauce) like Puerto Ricans do. I thought the coating didn't really help very much. The tostones were ok but I suspect they were not immediately made. The two sauces were very nice - a simple, mildly spicy...
