Not the best food experience here. Honestly would probably just eat out elsewhere or bring a protein bar next time to tide me over until they closed. Food was alright but the service was sub par. I was told I would get water but I had to ask for water after my meal was done. Not sure why they don’t bring you water when they take you order ticket?? That would make the transition easier at least if being acknowledged and then having something to sip on while you wait. I ordered a potato salad which was interesting and had a lemony/dill flavor - it was alright and nothing too special. Was the food pricey - yes and there was an automatic 20% gratuity which in my opinion should not be that much as even the restaurants in the city don’t charge that much especially with how pricey the food already is.

Subpar service and the odd system of this place makes sense but there’s logistical things that are making the execution of things fall flat.

Aproximative 15 minutes wait line to serve couple of drinks. Hot drinks were lukewarm and missed plates and napkins. Waited 15 minute for a bottled beer and $5 gratuity is included .A-separate area from the restaurant should serve only drinks for a smoother control of the crowds.Self serve machines as at the Science Museum.

One should expect to pay a premium at a museum cafe for nice food in and atmosphere that continues the aesthetics of the museum. The quality of the food was good as expected, but everything else falls short. You will pre-order your food at a counter, and it will be delivered to your table in a presentation that is worse than a mall food court by randomly dressed staff that have no incentive to be even halfway engaged because they've already received a 20% tip. An abundant number of staff members were socializing in the dining area while vacated tables remained dirty. Finally, despite the fact the dining area looks nice in the photos, the tables and chairs are hospital cafeteria quality. So what I'm saying is you'll get decent food at a premium price with no aesthetics. Since your ticket lets you come in and out of the museum on the same day, I'd recommend going outside and finding a nearby restaurant or food truck.

Wasn’t going to leave a bad review until the manager tried to gas light me about a rotting strawberry. Thats not how “dehydrated” strawberries look.

Without asking, they automatically charge you a 20% tip. The problem is that the service is terrible, it takes a long time for someone to come to your table to see what you ordered and to clean up the pile of dishes that were there before. The food also takes a long time to come out.
We didn't come to eat something spectacular, the food was good but the service and cost make it not worth it. It's better to come prepared and eat something outside.

For such a long line, I was surprised with how efficient the staff was at moving it along. The menu was a bit small and overpriced. The food was not bad, though. The outdoor seating is also very nice.

went to the art institute for a school field trip and we were told to eat at the cafe (bought our own food). we waited for 20 minutes for them to even start making our order and over another 15 for them to bring it out (we [3] all had separate orders but they made them all at once, we ordered a total of 6 things. they also got our order wrong and brought us something we didn't order. when we sent it back, they brought us the same thing again). I also got food poisoning after eating the flatbread. I would recommend eating at a real restaurant before coming here.

I spent $40 dollars on a fish sandwich and the fish was one tiny piece and didn’t even cover most of the bun (see pic), cold sweet potato fries, and a Diet Coke with a filthy lid. I had to ask for a cup. They automatically charged me $6 for a tip. I was not told and had no choice. Don’t waste your money here. I didn’t have the energy to argue with a bunch of teenagers that work there.

Been four times this summer—the staff I've seen are generally positive and friendly. But the ordering system is very very bad. You have to wait in a long line to order at mealtime. Why did they remove the kiosks?

And then once you're seated it's like a crapshoot when a server finally sees you and tried to start hunting down your food. It took about 15 mins for me to get a side of chips today. I just watched multiple folks try to wave down servers saying they are waiting for parts of their meal—or even beverages like coffee—for excessive periods of time. Servers were confused between themselves who had been served.

To their credit many of the staff are personable, and were kind and apologized. You can tell this is a poor management / process issue.

Warm weather atmosphere in the central courtyard is unmatched in the Loop, with the bronze-green fountains, quiet trees, and flagstone. This space falls to the cliche that the better the view the worse the service experience.

It's too bad because the pre-pandemic "upscale cafeteria / food hall" concept was never amazing, but the food was tastier, had better selection, and the self-service worked better than this current replacement.
