Just the worst. We came with a group to share dishes and it took a full hour to get plates and utensils. Food sat on our table getting cold. Don’t go unless you have a lot of time to waste. Bring your own fork, spoon, and plate

I usually enjoy this restaurant but this last experience was ridiculous. Uber was running the buy one get one free promo. We ordered 3 proteins each and only got 2 each. The rice was also half of what they normally serve. No disclaimer, nothing.

On a norm, their servings are generous enough that one plate can feed two adults, but this was nowhere close.

They chose to join the Uber promo, nobody forced them, so why punish customers? At least give the full portion for the one I actually paid for and then make the “free” one smaller if you must. But reducing both is crazy.

If you’re ordering from this place during an Uber promo, just know you won’t get the same quality or serving size you normally would.

We traveled from Ohio to dine at this restaurant for the second time. Our first visit was so enjoyable that we even brought my sister and cousin along to share the experience. Unfortunately, this visit was completely overshadowed by the poor service. The woman who served us was extremely rude, she came out of the kitchen and yelled at my husband simply because he ordered pounded yam but was brought something else instead. Instead of correcting the mistake, she stood by the kitchen door and continued shouting at him over a $3 item. The food itself was just average, nothing special, and definitely not worth the trip back after such unprofessional treatment that ruined our entire experience.

I showed up to this establishment to enjoy some fufu and egusi for my boyfriend’s boyfriend before our 2 hour drive home to Indiana. We went up to the woman at the register and she asked us what we wanted so we placed our order. There were many African people sitting in the establishment enjoying some beverages so we sat down at a neighboring table to wait for our food. A man approached us and asked what we wanted and we told him we were eating fufu and egusi so we were waiting to be served. He told us we couldn’t dine in, that we would have to take it to go, which is fine(regardless of being open till 3am, we were there around 10:30pm). Another couple came in shortly after the interaction and placed an order as well and sat in the table behind us to wait. They brought out their plated food and we were pretty confused. The woman who initially took our order came out with our food plated just a few minutes after the couple behind us and we were confused again. I informed her that the man in the white shirt approached us to tell us we couldn’t dine in so we were taking it to go. The reason why I’m spending the next morning writing this, is because I believe that everyone is on the same pedestal for being held accountable for discrimination. If this was an American establishment treating people of color this way, it would not be excused or overlooked. Everyone should be held to the same standard, no matter what race or color.

Okay so I LOVE trying new cuisines, and I've wanted to try egusi stew and pounded yam for a while, so when I got to Chicago I was so excited to discover a Nigerian restaurant near my folk's house that had the dish.
It's spicy and umami and savory and just 10/10 incredible. The goat is tender and the egusi seeds have a delicious nutty quality.
The pounded yam makes for a delicious swallow that balances the complex and powerful flavors of the stew. Absolutely fantastic all around.

Definitely gonna order from this place again. I think next time I'm gonna get chicken egusi stew instead of goat (they had that as an option but I wanted to try it as authentically as possible and my research said goat was popular) Its delicious but I think goat in general is a little gamey and rich for my palate. Totally a me thing, but if you like goat, go for it!

If anyone in the Chicago area is looking for a yummy dinner, Nigerian Kitchen is the move!
