Never go to Cafe after 2 pm because they will give you cold fries and cold sandwiches that should be hot. Grilled chicken sandwich wasn’t even grilled, it was cold and not even warmed up. The fries were left overs sitting for a long time. They are usually very good but not when they are cold. They are totally going down in their food quality such a shame when they were the best in neighborhood.

I had the Chicago Fire salad. It was very good. The cafe was very clean and had good service. It was quite hot outside but inside it was very nice.
Fast and friendly service! Comfortable setting as well.
Good cafe Good staff
I ate at this café for the first time yesterday, and was pleased overall. The space was clean, the menu was clear with a good variety of options, and the food tasted fine. The service was fast, even considering the fact that there were only two patrons there. I got the Chicago chili dog (with chips and a pickle) and a cup of coffee. The prices were on the high side, and the hot dog and chili could have been served a bit hotter, but overall a lunch that was rather good. Located on the first floor of the Chicago History Museum building, adjoining (June 2022) a very interesting photo exhibition from the Chicago Sun-Times archives.
Food is always good here
This cafe is directly accessible via the Chicago History Museum. It is strickly a quick eats spot for lunch or a snack after visiting this interesting museum. Being from another state, I was happy to find Chicago style hot dogs here. They also have homemade potato chips.

The food is surprisingly good
Love this hidden gem! We live in the neighborhood and eat here often, breakfast and lunch. Great food, great value, friendly staff. Salads, sandwiches made to order. (Better than walking over to Wells St, those places are overpriced.) Hi to Monica and Koz.
love the ambiance. good food and love the coffee and homemade chips
My wife and I had just browsed through the latest exhibit at the Chicago History Museum, Silver Screen to Mainstream: American Fashions 30s/40s, and purchased six books about the history of Chicago at the Museum Store. So we decided to have lunch at the museum's North & Clark Cafe. Located at 1601 North Clark Street, at the northeast corner of Clark and North Avenue, next to the Museum Store, it is a great way to begin your visit of the museum with a wake-up breakfast or top off your visit with lunch. In recent years, we have enjoyed both. It's a counter-service cafe offering all-day breakfast, pastries, sandwiches, salads, Chicago-style hot dogs, burgers, craft beer and wine. In good weather, you can sit outside on the patio next to the fountain. For breakfast, we have had toasted bagels with cream cheese, a Stevenson parfait with layers of vanilla yogurt, house-made granola and fruit, a Dan Ryan egg sandwich with scrambled egg, sausage and provolone cheese on a croissant and an Eisenhower plate with two scrambled eggs, sausage and Potatoes O'Brien on an English muffin. On this day, for lunch, we shared a Taylor Street Caesar salad with romaine and iceberg lettuce, parmesan and asiago cheese, croutons and Caesar dressing, a bowl of chili con carne with braised beef, beans, peppers, jalapeno jack cheese, red onion and sour cream, a Chicago-style Vienna hot dog with fries and a Wicker Park patty melt with caramelized onions, American cheese and provolone on toasted rye bread.
Wonderful Old Town Caprese sandwich (its listed as pannini), with potato chips and picles
