Great place to get a day time drink! Went during their Oktoberfest celebration. Beer selection was good, food was great, and we really appreciated the live music. Also fun to see all the river traffic!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Northman Beer & Cider Garden – Chicago Riverwalk
Disclaimer: This is my personal experience. If something’s off, I always suggest giving the team a chance to make it right. Most places want you to leave happy. That said, The Northman delivered.
Stopped by The Northman along the Riverwalk and grabbed a cold IPA and a classic Chicago Dog — and it hit all the right notes.
The IPA was fresh and flavorful, with a solid citrusy finish and perfect chill for a riverside afternoon. The Chicago Dog was loaded with all the essentials: sport pepper, tomato, relish, onion, mustard, celery salt, and that crisp pickle spear. Poppy seed bun held it all together without falling apart. Classic flavor, great execution.
Plenty of outdoor seating, cool riverside atmosphere, and a great vibe overall. Perfect stop for locals or tourists looking to chill with a drink and enjoy something iconic.

I only rated it 4 stars because I do feel like it is a bit pricey. Overall we had a great experience. My Rose and husband’s beer was exactly what we needed to end the night. My Chicago dog was really good as well as our tots. The view was amazing at night. I would also highly recommend a hot chocolate with dark rum on a cold night 🙂↔️

I'm a habitual visitor.
We had a great time sitting by the river and enjoying food and drink from The Northman. The Best Wurst was a real treat - highly recommended. Shawarma Sausage wasn't bad, but I'd try something else next time. Spiteful Brewing God Damn Pigeon Porter wins an amusing name award, but as a beer gets a B.

Beautiful location looking over the river. We stopped there for some traditional Chicago hotdogs and ciders, and they were good and decently priced. Service was great! Would go again for some ciders and views.

A great first stop when you arrive to the Riverwalk area. The cider selection was great. Had the traditional Chicago style hot dog and I thought it was solid, especially for the price. The view was great as well.

After our boat tour on The First Lady we wanted to grab a quick bite to eat and found this place while walking down the riverwalk. The setting on a nice summer day made it the perfect place to eat as there are a lot of benches and people lining the area. We didn’t get any drinks, ironic considering the place is known for that, but we did grab a plain hot dog and pretzel. Both were pretty standard with the pretzel being the better of the two. This is definitely a place we’d try again (drinks specifically) if we’re ever on the riverwalk. The vibes are great and you should definitely stop by.

Fun place to go after a full day and relax. Not much for food selection, but a good hard cider collection to try.
