The one and only place like that in the whole Midwest if not in the entire US of A. Fried liver with onions is out of this world. Best money you can possibly spend. Thank you and thank you again.

Had a wonderful experience here. I only wish I had the appetite to try even more things!

My only teeny-tiny complaint is many of the food items could have been hotter, but hey it's a buffet and I went well after peak lunchtime, so I guess that's to be expected. But that didn't detract enough for me to lower the rating to 4 stars, it was that good! It felt like grandma cooked me a feast :)

Old Lviv is a timeless treasure that captures the essence of Ukrainian heritage in every exquisite detail, from the rustic wooden beams and embroidered linens that evoke the charm of Lviv’s historic streets to the masterful dishes that sing with authentic flavors passed down through generations. The borscht is a symphony of deep ruby hues, tender beets, and savory broth topped with a swirl of creamy smetana, while the varenyky—plump dumplings filled with potato, cheese, or cherries—melt in your mouth with buttery perfection, and the deruny potato pancakes are crisped to golden bliss alongside earthy mushrooms and dill. Don’t miss the honey-glazed ribs or the silky holubtsi cabbage rolls, each bite bursting with warmth and tradition, all served by staff whose genuine hospitality makes you feel like family. With generous portions, fair prices, and an ambiance that transports you to old-world Ukraine, Old Lviv earns its five stars effortlessly—it’s not just a meal, it’s a heartfelt journey worth savoring and repeating.

Humble little place. I imagined it would be bigger. Only 5 tables / bar seating. The food on the buffet was outstanding Eastern European fare: cabbage rolls, kotleti, Nalysnyky, gravies, and so on. The Borscht was hot and delicious. There were no varenyky on the buffet, so we ordered some. Espresso drinks added a perk to the experience. 100% would recommend!

Absolutely fantastic place. Everything tastes homemade, service is good, and the price is perfectly reasonable for the quality of the buffet. Definitely worth a trip to the neighborhood.

One of the best meals I’ve had in Chicago! Every bite tasted lovingly made. It felt like being in someone’s home. Can’t wait until I can make it back to Chicago for another meal here!

Very good. About $22/person for the buffet. Nice variety and everything is tasty and fresh. They take card and cash. There was about a 30 minute delay in opening the restaurant, so it was about 11:30, but the delicious food and cultural experience was well worth it.
