We had dinner before a 7:30 symphony performance on a Monday night. We had a party of 5. We were sat right away but once at our table service was very slow. We had drinks delivered about 30 minutes after we sat. At about 25 minutes before the performance we were still waiting on our entrees. They came shortly after, but I was left trying to very quickly eat my almost $50 entree. The value was already not good, but having to eat it so quickly it was very bad. We had children with us and they had very little time to eat much of their entrees at all. The prices are also quite high for the quality and choice of food. This was our second visit to the restaurant since its rebranding. Service has been poor and slow both times. Won't be back for a third visit.

We found Opus when looking for a dining choice prior to a symphony. The restaurant is wonderful and very convenient to the CSO facility, connected by a hallway, so there is no need to deal with bad weather! We enjoy Opus and know you will too.

This is the 2nd time in 2 weeks at the Opus Restaurant. Thought we'd try again by chance it happened to be an "off" day. We felt that the service, while kind people for sure, were not well organized and put us off. We were dining prior to a concert, which requires quick and professional service. Food was average and does not stand up to the very good quality served as Tesori or Rhapsody. Finally, overpriced for drinks and food. I tipped properly, but we won't return soon, despite the fact that we loved the combination of nice, nearby dining prior to a concert. Sorry to give an unfortunate review. One thing though. All people were kind, and no one was snarky. Glad for that. Sorry, wish it was better.

Prices higher than former restaurant by $25 per person. My salmon was undercooked. My friend's whitefish was okay. My wife liked her pork tenderloin. Hope the restaurant does well

We were pleasantly surprised at the choice offered by the menu: a la carte as well as prix fixe. My friend ordered the shrimp appetizer and a salad. I had a vegetable soup and the shrimp and grits. We both enjoyed our choices. We love the convenience of dining on site. We're much more inclined to do that than look for another site to dine.

The food was good but overpriced, especially the desserts. They had no pate' at all on a Saturday, and had no decaf coffee at 6:45 on a Sat. night. The manager was very unorganized and was having a melt-down. The wait staff was very pleasant and attentive, even though they kept having to handle all the customers' complaints.

We had 5:30 reservations and an 8pm CSO concert. When we arrived the restaurant was pretty empty. By 7:10, we still hadn't been served our food so we left. Others who were seated long after we were, were served their dinners. We never ate & there were 5 of us!!!!

Opus has the good and bad fortune of naturally attracting very demanding customers...those who can afford to attend events at the CSO. There is an incredible volume of patrons, and the place is slammed. We had a terrific meal...as vegetarians, we are frequently unimpressed by what most restaurants in touristy areas can offer (we sadly have to eat most often at Subway), but our meal was delicious and the service was superb!

It's freezing cold on Valentines Day and I just finished attending a concert at the CSO. I've been to Opus before, but just for drinks and a snack. I walked to the hostess station and asked should I seat myself or not? I was ushered to a seat in the bar. I'm short and without heels it's impossible for my feet to rest on the floor. I looked over the menu and when the server came to take my order I asked her what was the soup of the day and how many ounces difference between the cup and bowl of it. She said, it's in a small cup and the other was bigger. Ugh!! I asked for a few more minutes to decide. As I sat there my legs began to cramp, so I asked her if I could sit lower, she understood being of short stature and lead me back to the hostess desk with a sneer, SHE needs to sit in the dining room. I explained my legs were uncomfortable and they led me to a table. I know I think what I want to eat and I ask if I can have the soup du jour first so I could decide if I even wanted the French fries that accompanied the meal. Mark said sure no problem. I ordered a Manhattan and it was one of the best I've had lately. I was looking forward to my meal when I was asked by a young server if I wished a bread basket? I ordered soup, I would think it should've been a given especially since the French Onion soup didn't include any croutons, bread or cheese of any kind. It was sliced onions in a beef consommé with little base to it. Cold butter, but warm bread basket. I began to eat it, when a server comes with my soup and burger. Did I mention I asked for them separately? I asked him to take the burger back until I was ready. He frowned at me like I did something wrong! I'm now eating this mediocre "homemade" soup and the young lady who placed the strawberries and bread basket asked if everything ok? I explained and she said I admit I wasn't happy and thought another person was Marc, she brought Marc over and I questioned what I thought were clear directions. He apologized and said there would be a wait for another order. What was surprising and suspect is that the "fresh" burger was only microwaved warm along with the fries. The burger entree, beautifully constructed, however being in Chicago who serves a burger without ANY mustard, but gives Heinz ketchup and the thinnest smear of garlic aioli I've ever received?Yes, you can count the number of fries. I think they smacked on them before the plate got to the table. The topper for me was Marc brought my check and didn't ask if I wanted dessert! The server that brought the bread basket and strawberries did and I asked her if she was my server or Mark. She said he was, but she gave me the most attention and tried to give me a pleasant dining experience. I asked if she gets tips, she smiled and said , She wished., so I gave her $2. Not much, but she deserves the tip of my bill. Oh, I gave Marc is 20%, because I attend the CSO for the Jazz series and when I wear heels I can hook onto the bar stool and have a cocktail and snack. My cheeseburger, fries, soup du jour and Manhattan was just under $40. I was wondering why it wasn't packed and could accommodate me on such a busy weekend in Chicago with the NBA, Friday night on Michigan Ave being packed and so cold. If this is their "normal" I understand, Opus needs to bring some of the old Rhapsody back! They're missing the notes. PS When guest approach the hostess desk force a smile, especially if you are laughing and then it turns into a frown. It's a big turn off to any dining experience.

Went here last week for dinner prior to seeing the Chicago Symphony perform. Dinner was ok but not great. Service was adequate and the food came in a timely manner. Had a nice bottle of wine. Think this place will improve with some time as far as the quality of their food. All in all not a great dinner but not bad either.

Arrived early seated at a table in an unacceptable location . Had to deal with a manager when we could easily have been moved. Service was very slow and the food while expensive was just mediocre.Menu was very limited and pricey. Overall other than its location next to Symphony center I would never recommend it .

I was not impressed. My food was slow and cold. My daughter's salmon was hot but it was served on cold rice. We were going to symphony so no use to send it back. Not worth the price.

One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had in Chicago. Amateur for both service and quality of food. I will never go here again - it's hopeless. Won't last long.
