“If I could give ZERO stars, I would” headahh lol. Nah, but we got this new girl that just started. Super nice and sweet. Was honest about it being her first day; no biggie, we told her she was doing great… so I spoke TOO soon. People coming in after us had finished eating, paid, and left while my girlfriend and I sat there nearly two hours. We spent 6 hours in the car getting to Chicago from MN and just wanted some good sushi. At this point, we just WANTED to pay for the edamame we received an hour ago and leave. We finally caught her attention (we had a feeling she was ignoring us, she was serving customers right next to us) and asked if the rolls had been made yet, to which she rudely cuts us off and responds with “NOTHING’s been made yet”. Great! Let’s not waste their time beginning the rolls and just pay for what we received… no. A manager came over and offered us free food, twice. We declined the first time— this lady was actually very sweet, felt bad and accepted her last offer. Somehow our rolls were made right then and there (waitress missed it and never checked in with the chefs, I guess). I will say by the end of it I was getting antsy and just wanted to leave. Again, we spent 6 hours roadtripping and found Ora with good reviews… wasn’t so much a great “aura” for me. I only hope the waitress we had improves her professionalism, customer service, and time management skills. (My gf proof read this so I wouldn’t be as mean). Thanks.

If u like quality sushi this is the place, in my humble opinion it’s one of the best in Chicago. We been coming here for many years even to the previous location and it’s always consistently amazing, usually go for verity of sashimi and I absolutely love the scallop roll and tuna tataki.

Such delicious sushi that tasted very fresh and had interesting flavor and combinations. Unfortunately service was slow and it was quite hot inside but it’s summer in Chicago and they were short staffed. Still delicious. Will return.

Food was very good but service was slow and they forgot about our food. In general this is not a place for a short meal. Very good fish quality!

Food good. Just be prepared to wait a long time for food and to eat. Table next to us arrived after we did and just left while we wait for our last order Sake Tataki. Last order came 23 mins ago when we placed the entire order…..similar thing happened last time. Food is good but be prepared to spend 90 minutes for simple order

I was meeting a friend for dinner who loves sushi. I suggested the spot because it's near her and I'd heard many great things. Ora didn't disappoint.
After an awkward attempt by each of us to enter the restaurant, we were seated. The entryway looks more like the entrance to apartments or an office.
We started out with the edamame and the crispy spicy tuna. I wasn't expecting the tuna to be cooked, but the dish was quite good. The edamame was great too. I'm not sure what kind of salt they used, but it didn't easily melt into the edamame.
For our main, we ordered three rolls: Kouyou, Sakana, and Hotate Volcano. Of the three, the Sakana was my favorite with the Volcano being a close second. You know a meal is good when you're thinking about it the next day.
While this isn't in the neighborhood for me, I'll be back because the food is excellent.

I had a fantastic meal and experience at Ora. Dalbert and his team go out of their way to create a great experience all around. The quality of the fish, expertise of the chef and balance of flavors was beyond exceptional. Truly a restaurant that takes pride in their craft and stands behind their excellence. Ora is an absolute gem. I highly recommend it!

Love the atmosphere at the new location. Tasty sashimi.
Outstanding sushi, some of the best I've had ever. I will be back!

I beg you to get the Oyster Motoyaki.
This place is a solid sushi spot but not the best I've ever had in Chicago. The sushi was good not great, the vibes were good and the prices were fair, albeit a bit high (IMO).
If I could give Ora more than five stars, I absolutely would! This restaurant serves some of the most incredible Japanese cuisine I have ever had, and without a doubt, it is the best sushi I’ve eaten since arriving in the United States. I’ve tried many places, but none compare to the freshness, quality, and artistry of their sushi.
The chef—whose name I regret forgetting—is absolutely phenomenal. His dedication to delivering an exceptional culinary experience is evident in every bite. The entire team is responsible, attentive, and committed to excellence, ensuring that each dish is not just food, but an experience.
The atmosphere at Ora is warm and inviting, with a simple yet cozy setting that makes you feel at home. One of the best perks? They allow you to bring your own drinks, which makes the experience even more enjoyable.
Ora isn’t just a sushi restaurant—it’s a place that truly honors Japanese cuisine with precision, care, and authenticity. If you’re in the Chicago area and love sushi, this is the place to go. It has become my absolute favorite spot for Japanese food, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-tier dining experience!
One of my favorite sushi spots in Chicago! The salmon belly cut is amazing.
A truly indulgent contemporary sushi place. The rolls at Ora are so creative and full of texture. Highly recommend the following:
- baked oyster with egg custard, so garlicky
- Kani roll, has a surprising taste of lemon to compliment the crab
BYOB with a charge per person, not too bad.
