The restaurant's amotsphere was pleasant. The hostess could have been friendlier, given that she has chosen a job which deals with the public. The server was excellent. The rib and the Amish chicken were great. We will go back again. The prices were not extravagant for a downtown restaurant.
Food was fantastic! Gnocchi, angel hair with shrimp, Parmesan bread. Was cold in the restaurant, people left coats on.
This has become our “go to” place for serious Italian food in Chicago. While the menu may not be as extensive as some, there is a more than adequate variety in all courses and additional special dishes. The salads are interesting and shareable and the ricotta gnocchi is a nice variation on the dish.
Came to Chicago from Bloomington. This was our 1st time and will definitely be returning. Everything was A+. Special appreciation to hostess, Stephanie. 3 of us wear hearing aids and Stephanie remembered my on-line request for quieter spot. She also arranged to secure a cab. Thank you Osteria.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a pizza with a crust this thin in my life. And I’m not sure whether that’s supposed to be a compliment or an insult—so let me be blunt: it’s not a good thing. Dough is an essential part of a pizza. If there’s no dough, there’s no pizza. This was easily one of the worst pizzas I’ve had simply because you couldn’t taste the crust at all. Even the edges—where you expect a nice puff, some chew, some flavor—were paper-thin and so fragile they broke just by touching them. And this was the *happy hour* version for $9… normally $19, which is honestly unbelievable for what you get.
To make things worse, there were no happy hour cocktails. Just wine. Not exactly exciting.
We tried dessert as well. The tiramisu had good flavor but was overly damp for my taste. The butterscotch budino was delicious but far too sweet.
Overall, a very disappointing experience.

OVS was the perfect spot to host our wedding this past November! From the moment we first met with the team (and had our first bite of the short rib) we knew this was where we wanted to celebrate our wedding. It is warm and inviting venue that can handle a large, lively crew - all in the conveniently located River North. Natalie could not have made it easier for us during the planning process. Her calming and professional presence made the evening run so smoothly. They even let our pup be a part of the event. We had about 160 at our wedding and every single person left happy and full. We heard countless times from guests that this was “the best food I’ve ever had at a wedding!” The service team was so accommodating. We could not recommend the venue more for your special event. Already excited to go back for anniversary dinners to reminisce on all fun!

Food was absolutely great - from appetizers to dessert. Pizza was fabulous. Service was great too.
Wife selection of very flavorful menu option. Just Serve Me Wine was fun for a variety of wine.

Excellent meal. We ordered a lot of small plates and one large plate so we could share a lot of dishes. Food was great. Service was excellent. Love the ambience. And, we were there during happy hour so very cost effective. Highly recommend!
We had a private event here. Staff was amazing, my wine was never empty! Food was great and private room was perfect for conversation and a large group table setting.

Both service and food were good for a very reasonable price. Environment was very Italian and they accommodated small changes to the menu.
Exellent food and service, except two peoples' dinners came and other two waited nearly 10 minutes for theirs.
Great pizza, however, a bit pricey for thin crust.
