The chilaquiles torta was flavorful and not spicy. They have a large variety of pastries but unfortunately by the time it was my turn almost all were gone. I waited one hour in the line and it is very busy. They only open on weekends from 8a to 12p. It would be great of They can expand their times and that might help with the congestion and line. I don't know if I will keep returning since it is a long wait but it is good to try it at least once.

Where should I start? The food is absolutely DELICIOUS, chilaquiles are freshly made, the steak was delicious, Gorditas were made on the spot. The pastries are PHENOMENAL, so fresh, so tasty, so unique.
The service? 2/10. I feel for the staff that I’m sure is up and running waaaay before opening time, they look overwhelmed, tired and stressed. The owner is always there (which is great) and she even admitted that day she got very little sleep because she was getting things ready. It’s sad that us as customers will stand on the Chicago cold for hours (literally), see people walk out with dozens of pastries and eventually get the staff to tell us that they’re sold out. They don’t care about us waiting outside as they refuse to cap the amount of pastries customer can purchase, at this point it feels like they just care about their product walking out the door and not all of their customers trying their amazing goods.
They have a pretty interesting concept inside the store (except for the extremely loud music blasting, I always have to get in my tippy toes to talk over the glass to the staff because I can’t hear them through the glass AND the music (the speakers are not very helpful)) the fact that they livestream the store gives you a pretty good idea of how crazy is inside there, I just wish they also streamed the area of the pastries, i constantly see people slowing down the line because they don’t know what’s in stock.
Owner is very talented in her craft and we all know this. I just wish they re-strategized their selling and storefront logistics and strategies. They need to understand that after so many years of being excellent, their business is starting to grow and change.

The wait was worth it. Have to admit, it’s the most expensive pan I’ve ever bought, but will do it again. I expected the pastries to be sweeter, but they were just right to my liking.

Might be the best bakery in the city. Amazing breakfast sandwiches. Long waits but worth it or order ahead
Waited over 50 minutes for one taco and one quesadilla.
They had a sign outside saying “Sold Out, Pastries Only”. When we got inside there were no pastries left. We wanted chilaquiles verdes and they also said they sold out. So we just ordered a taco and a quesadilla.
By the time we got our food, they were still giving out chilaquiles verdes. The food we did get was not good. The tortilla was too salty and the meat tastes cheap and cold.

this place is amazing but I am fortunate enough to be able to walk there. I completely understand what folks are saying about the wait times / availability but that's what happens when the food is good!

I came here to get pan de muerto and the line was huge. I was 45 minutes in line. The line was moving super slow for the amount people that were getting served. Prices are a little high and they charge you $1.50 for light ice on a drink. I decided to get an horchata iced latte. The drink tasted like agua de horchata. No coffee what so ever. Big disappointment. They didn't have the pan de muerto I was looking for so I got something else instead. The cinnamon roll was good but pricey. To me, it wasn't worth the wait. $28 It was pricey for 2 20 oz drinks and one cinnamon roll.

2 hours in line waiting just for them to sell out and send us home.
I wouldn’t recommend this place until they find a better system. They open for 3 hours only Saturday and Sunday and the line is 2 blocks long. People grab multiple boxes so by the time you get to the front after a brutal wait in the cold they are sold out.
The bread was good when I had it last year but it’s honestly not worth that kind of experience.
Please place a limit on the amount an individual can get or open more often. The bakery has been receiving a lot of well deserved hype for years now. There’s no excuse for this to keep happening it’s losing you loyal customers

I had a bad experience on my first visit. I arrived around 8:30 a.m. and waited in line for about an hour and 45 minutes, paying for parking because I came from the Lincoln Park area. By the time I got inside, there was no artesanal bread left.
I think they should be upfront and let people know up to which number the selection will last, so others can decide whether to stay or leave.
Unfortunately, I don’t think I’d come back.
Saw this place on social media, and it looked delicious!
But honestly, I am giving this place 4 stars for the food and the ambiance. I had a Gordita de mole con huevo and it was my favorite thing I had!
I also had chilaquiles with bistec, which was also really good.
However, the bread was a bit disappointing. I felt it was a bit dry. :/
I had a taste of 10 different pastries and my favorites were the house chocolate cake and the guava & cream croissant.
I honestly don’t think the two hour wait was worth it. My sister did get there an hour before and was out within 30 minutes with her order — which I think it’s the only way I would go there again. Or maybe if they opened more days, so the line isn’t so long.
I would say skip this place if you are not in line at least 30 minutes before opening.
