Papa's Philly & Fish

If Papa's Philly & Fish doesn't live up to its billing as "the best fast food restaurant in Chicago," it's hard to imagine who does it any better. Located at 7500 South Cottage Grove Avenue, it is a takeout and delivery operation that is open from 11 to 9 Monday through Saturday and serves all kinds of food from catfish, perch, salmon, tilapia and shrimp dinners to burgers, sandwiches, roast beef and corned beef subs, gyros, Italian beef, corned beef on rye, patty melt with grilled onions, T-bone steak, Vienna hot dogs, Polish, tacos, nachos and burritos. Our favorites? Start with the three-piece fish and three-piece shrimp combo with salad and house Italian dressing, coleslaw, garlic bread and fries. The Chicago original, the Jim Shoe sandwich, with gyro meat, roast beef, corned beef, grilled onions, mayo, mozzarella, lettuce and tomato. Big Papa's steak burger with one pound of beef patty, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, mayo, onions and pickle. The Philly cheese steak sandwich with grilled onions, mushrooms and green peppers, mayo, lettuce, tomato, cheese and fries. And the grilled chicken Philly with grilled onions, mushrooms and green peppers, mayo, cheese, lettuce, tomato and fries. Since Papa's Philly & Fish is located so far from our home in the city's Gold Coast neighborhood, we usually make a habit of taking our order to Rainbow Beach Park for a picnic. But I always save a corned beef on rye for a late-night snack.

Placed an order here today online. I was allowed to place the order and when I arrived to pick up the order, it looks like this place hasn’t been opened in a while.I called and there’s no answer. My card has been charged for the food and there’s no answer and no one here.

I ordered a steak burrito which had to many gristle in it and their menus need to be updated bcuz some items on there they don't have any more and step their game up on the gyro samdwiches!!!!
