Par’s cove is my favorite restaurant in Chicago. The unbelievable Persian cuisine combined with the intimate ambiance makes for a perfect dinner spot. Max Pars, the owner, is a kind soul caring for everyone who steps down into his cove. Places like this are rare these days, and it needs to be frequented and preserved.

Came here for the first time to introduce a friend to Persian food since it's close to his place. They sadly don't have tahdig (Persian crispy rice) but other dishes on the menu made up for it.
Kashke: An eggplant dip with bread. This one tastes great, and bread servings are generous which you use to scoop said dip.
Veggie Mediterranean: I didn't eat this dish but the person I was with enjoyed it. It's a medly of vegetables mixed with a tomato paste of sorts. Portions are generous on the vegetables and frankly it looks good.
Fesenjan: This is my order. It's different from other Fesenjan I've had. The taste is lighter and isn't like a stew where you can dip bread or tahdig into, but rather a marinade around the chicken. It's still good but I assume this is a regional style given how large Iran is.
Persian Tea: This one is familiar to me. It's a black tea with a citrusy taste to it on top of a sweetener. It's well balanced and a great end to a meal.
Overall, this is a nice restaurant that serves good meals. When I'm back in the Lincoln Park area, I'd try their Sabzi. The waitress is also very nice and attentive so you're in good hands.

To the owner: please sell this restaurant while you can. The location is great and you can recoup a good profit on just that alone, I'm sure (pending renovations, of course).
The meal I had here was so wild that I don't know where to start. The restaurant was empty and looked like a dungeon. The platter for 3 was incredibly small (only a few pieces of meat). The platter itself was a mess. The meat was hidden under heavy stews that wouldn't typically be served that way. My guess is they were trying to obfuscate poor quality meat. The lamb kabob wasn't a kabob but rather a burger patty (hidden under what I'm guessing was supposed to be fesenjan, but was definitely not fesenjan). The khoreshteh sabzi was obviously from frozen and had canned corn in it which was so weird. The whole thing was a mess. The humus was great. But that's not enough to save it. The Sysco ice cream at the end was unnecessary. I left feeling embarrassed to my guests for suggesting we eat here. We all left hungry and I left both hungry and a little grossed-out.

I dont like leaving 3 star reviews for what seems like a family-owned, non-chain restaurant, but am hoping this offers some chance for feedback/improvement.
First, the service was non-attentive. It was quite slow. Waters weren't being refilled. They didn't ask if we wanted sumac? At a persian restaurant, either sumac should be on the table or they should offer it, especially if someone who orders koobideh... there's only a rare persian who doesn't eat chelo kabob without sumac. When we said we wanted a box for our food, they confiscated the food and no box was given?? I thought that a place that has been operating for years would have smoother service.
Second, the food was ok. The koobideh was great; however, everything else was just ok. They dont have many persian staples for some reason? What happens if I just want gormeh sabzi (gormeh sabzi only comes in chicken form?)? What about just tadiq, khoresht-e-gheyme, tachin? Also, we ordered 3 plates for two people and there was such little rice. The menu was also not intuitive. Why not separate by appetizers, Khoresht, Kabob, Polo and Ash, drinks, and dessert? That would be more intuitive. Me and my persian friend were having to strain our minds to figure out what was and what wasn't being offered and constantly flipping the menu.
My suggestions would be to have more attentive service, a more intuitive menu, larger rice portions and more expeditious service.
Sorry for the 3-star review; I would come back only for the koobideh but no other menu items.

Nice cozy little restaurant with great service. Excellent selection of appetizers and stews. Of course there's a great choice of kabobs as well, but this is not just another typical Persian Kabobi restaurant. Highly recommended.
The food was phenomenal. Do the dinner for 2 and you’ll be set. I got the Lamb shank fensenjan for my entree and loved it. Very cute establishment and service was great

A small, intimate dining area that is perfect for a chill date night or hangout. The sampler was lovely, my favorite being the eggplant and the hummus. I had the vegetarian sabzi which was ok, i was looking for a bit more flavor, but it was still tasty. The lentil soup was super flavorful though and the skewers were delicious according to others in my party.
