My three tacos were good however, my friends tacos were not good. I tried them and yeah. Very inconsistent.
Everything was fantastic. I wish I could fit more in my belly! The molletes were probably my favorite, out of the things I tried this first time. It's basically refried beans on good bread with pico & avocado on top. YUM. It also seemed wrong to order onion rings at a Mexican restaurant, but they were the good kind. Definitely get the horchata. I will be back eventually to try tacos and more!
Food was very flavorful. Worth our $25 Lyft up for brunch. Would come here again and again. A must stop when visiting Chicago!
Severe lack of empathy from the owners who are Hispanic themselves regarding care for their workers' well-being during these times and firing their amazing manager who was putting the livelihood of her workers first. Definitely lost a customer here!
I have brought a lot of my animal-eating friends and family to Penelope's and they all end up pleasantly surprised and have even returned on their own! Their nachos are my go to, and their margaritas are absolutely amazing and FRESH.

I like some things here like the mushroom tacos and onion rings, and all of the sauces and ingredients are super fresh and flavorful. I wish they had more whole food taco options since processed faux meat isn't really my thing, but overall Penelope's is a nice treat every once in a while.

I’m not a vegan (but I respect those who are) and still come here as the food is really tasty. Great to sit near the street with the wall up on a nice day too.

I am not a Mexican food expert. But it felt genuine to me. Plus, they have lots of protein options, including pulled oats. I didn’t even know that was a thing, but I liked it.
Go here and try everything! The best Mexican food I’ve had hands down. This is the chimichanga. Get the street corn appetizer. My son loves the kids enchilada. Seriously just try out the whole menu! I have only dined in, but I see a lot of takeout orders going out too.

Incredible menu with tons of options. Haven’t had a dish here that I didn’t like.
