If you love ginger and a crispy noodle, Penny's Noodle Shop has the best Lad Nar from the city to the burbs. Nothing else like it. The light sauce has ginger, carrots and broccoli and is consistently amazing! Best when dining in but take out good too. Take noodles on the side for takeout and mix it up at home. Delicious every time.

Best Thai food I’ve had in a while. It’s pricey so not something I’d order for takeout often but really good.

I’ve only ordered from DoorDash but will be going in person soon. The chicken noodle soup is amazing. The red curry is the best in the city. My go to order!!!

I used to eat here all the time when I lived in Chicago. The owners would always remember my name and were so kind. Do yourself a favor and order the green curry

For the the past 30 years I’ve supported Pennys but the last several years the food has been inconsistent every single time with maybe one out of 4 times being what it should be. Now the cost of dining here is also extremely high. A noodle dish with tofu over 16.00. I understand the labor costs are high and everything is much higher but this is ridiculous. They have forgotten to put ingredients in the take out, so my pad Thai consisted of noodles and cold tofu and no veggies. The Thai spring roll skin is always dried out and maybe one out of 5 times it tastes soft and fresh. Sometimes the wide rice noodles are big and chewy and other times they are small pieces like the photo. I do want to support this restaurant but it’s just not what it used to be and I know it’s the same owners. Tofu used to be included in the price of their noodle dishes and they charge extra for it. Sometimes the flavors aren’t the same-like adding too much star anise and other times it’s bland. I cant continue to pay this much to get this quality.

This was my first time eating here and everything is clean, smells amazing, taste is outstanding and I love the subtle kick of spice in multiple entrees. We tried the crisp rolls, wonton soup, thai fried rice w chicken, and of course a delicious thai iced tea!! All great

Visiting chicago and stopped by Penny's for ramen. After seeing pictures from reviews of telltale signs of them using instant noodles rather than japanese ramen noodles, we ordered pad see eu and thai fried rice. Seeing non asian diners shouldve been a warning sign but we ignored it chalking it up to small asian demographic of the city. The food is below mid, pad see eu noodles are in torn up small pieces and feels and tastes like scrap food. Can cook better fried rice at home with better quality beef. Disappointing, would not recommend. I hope this isnt representative of thai food in Chicago
The place was good and clean. The server was great. We went around 2 PM on a Monday, and it wasn't busy. As we were finishing up, people started coming in. There's limited seating as they don't have many tables. We ordered their Tom Yum Soup, and it was very sour, which I like, but I would have loved for it to have a stronger touch of lemongrass. We also ordered Pad Thai, which was different from what I'm used to but was still good. We ordered their Thai-style fried rice, which was also good. Lastly, the Tonkatsu Ramen was really good when made spicy. Unfortunately, they didn't have any desserts, which I was a little disappointed about. Overall, it was a good experience, and the food was good, but it didn't fully satisfy my expectations when it comes to Thai food.

Pennys noodles was perfect for the first snow of the season and feeling a little under the weather. I picked up pad Thai and it was incredible! The staff was extremely nice as well.
