I can’t speak on the atmosphere or service as I ordered it on DoorDash. The food was phenomenal! Seasoned to perfection and really very good! I will definitely order again. The only suggestion would be to have different containers or find a way to seal the bag when ordering on delivery; however, it wasn’t a big deal. It was very good!

We came in durning happy hour ordered two drinks green tomatoes and salmon egg rolls. Decided to wait to order more food to give the appetizers a try since we haven’t been here in a while. Safe to say I’m glad we waited .. fried green tomatoes were unseasoned. I only tasted seasoned on one tomato in which was very salty. The salmon egg rolls were soggy no crispy to its texture and they weren’t hot like fresh out the grease you can tell they been sitting in a warmer.. I won’t be returning

Came here last night around 10:30 pm. There's a parking garage near and street parking is available if you luck up. My friend and I were stopped at the door by security. He checked her purse and showed us to a table by the front. The place is not that big inside. There is bar seating and table seating. I'd say the atmosphere is more suited for a younger crowd or an older crowd that's still in touch with their younger days. It wasn't my thing. I'm more of an r&b/jazz girlie. The waitress came almost immediately and handed us sticky menus. She was pleasant. We ordered and the food came out in a decent time.
The food was hot and delicious. Their wings are fried to perfection and seasoned perfectly. The chicken tips were a 1st for me and I liked them. I forgot the drink's name that I ordered but it was smoking when brought to the table. It was really good. I think the food and drinks are reasonably priced for this type of establishment. The portions are smaller. I would like to go back and try more menu items.
My complaints are that there was no AC. It's summertime in Chicago. There should be AC. The front wall/window opens up so they had it wide open. I was dripping sweat. I spotted 1 industrial fan against the wall. It did not help. There's automatic gratuity on the bill. We were only a table for 2. Also, the bathroom was disgusting. There are 2. I only saw 1. The other one was locked. I walked in and walked right back out.
I saw bad TikTok reviews for this place but it just goes to show you have to find out for yourself. My experience wasn't bad. Not a wow experience either. I would patronize them again on a cooler day at an earlier time just to see if the vibes are different in the daytime. I'm also wondering if the gratuity is added to takeout orders as well.

The food is always good!!! Fresh and hot! Everything tastes amazing, real Chicago flavor! Never came and had a bad experience 10/10 and the Hennessy night car is a must have! Lemon drop tasted like beer and not liquor, Long Island was watery, place has no air other than small fans on ceiling that wasn’t hitting, the food was decent in taste not complaining on that but portions could be a little larger.
I love their take out and delivery. Ever since I first started ordering I get them a couple times a month. Gotta stop by next time and enjoy their vibes.

I visited this spot on a very rainy day before Juneteenth, particularly to kinda celebrate but really due to having some free time. Upon entering, no one greeted me or even acknowledged my presence so it was UNclear if I would be seated or to seat myself....I chose an empty seat at the bar. There was quite a span of time that passed before the bartender even noticed I was there...so again not a word spoken to me as a customer. I thought to myself, here we go with MY people, where's the basic customer service?? The only reason I did not leave is for the pouring rain outside. The decor appeared nice, there was some new age youngster music playing, NOT of my personal interest but I guess better than silence. Finally, I was approached by the bartender and told about the daily special, absolutely NO water in hand.... perhaps I didn't look thirsty since it was raining outside? Again a significant amount of time had passed before she came back to ask if I was ready to order. I had to ASK for a glass of water.... perhaps grown folks only drink alcoholic beverages nowadays and not many partake in H20? Maybe the bartender could sense my annoyed energy and she had apologized for the wait on my food and assured me that it would not be too much longer. Upon receiving my food, I had to (again) ASK for BOTH napkins and utensils.... perhaps we've reverted back to eating with our hands and wiping them on our clothes? The food was actually decent, but did not make me wanna slap my momma.
PHLAVZ if you would kindly work with your staff to improve BASIC customer service...greeting patrons, provide a glass of water prior to taking their order along with napkins and utensils....these kinds of things should be AUTOMATIC and NOT per customer request!! I would like to visit again someday once these changes have been implemented. I really appreciate that you are a black-owned business in a nice high-traffic area of the city BUT keep in mind that you're competing with other similar food and bar serving restaurants in the area. Additionally, it's difficult to find parking AND Chicago parking is NOT FREE! So at the least, I would definitely WANT to feel like my visit is worth my time and money. I can cook my own food at home and it's quite tasty...but when I go out to eat, I 'm really paying for 'SERVICE'!

⭐️⭐️ (2 stars) I want to start by recognizing the effort of the staff. It seemed like the restaurant was understaffed during my visit, and one team member in particular was doing it all—greeting guests, taking orders, and staying on top of things as best they could.
However, my experience left me disappointed. I ordered lamb with a Caesar salad, but when I got home, I found lamb with fries instead. The receipt listed both salad and fries with the lamb, which was confusing, especially since I was told I’d only be getting one side. The food was nicely presented, but unfortunately too salty for my taste—and it just wasn’t what I asked for.
I also made several attempts to call the restaurant afterward but couldn’t get through. I spent over $60 on a meal that didn’t match my order and wasn’t to my liking. I’d appreciate some form of compensation or at least a response.
This review isn’t to tear the place down, but to offer honest feedback. I hope improvements can be made, especially around communication and order accuracy.
