Surprisingly horrible haha. I’m speaking mainly from the pasta perspective. My table ordered several different pasta dishes and at least 3 weren’t worth finishing. I was eager to try this place for months, but now I know to never go back. Tortello near Wicker Park is a great example of exquisite pasta that is leagues ahead of Piccolo.

Always my favorite place! We went to celebrate our dear friend Viet who is also a dear friend to everyone at Piccolo Sogno! Once again, food was FABULOUS! From the lasagna, pizza, osso-buco, pasta with butternut squash to the biscotti & cappuccino! Service was Excellent! This a MUST GO TO WHEN YOU CAN!
Really disappointing. For $400 ($135/pp) I expected so much more. Positives: the special salad siciliana was refreshing and delicious. The hazelnut flourless lava cake was delicious. The wine we picked was great. Negatives: The pasta dishes (the special ravioli and the wild boar ragu) : pasta was too thick and tough. Carrots were undercooked, the wild boar ragu and the ragu on the agnolotti were underbraised, lacked depth, and felt rushed. While they did a fantastic job of filetting the branzino, it arrived cold. Water was never refilled. Bread basket was meh Pistachio gelato was grainy Panna cotta had far too much gelatin, more like jello than custard. The restaurant was unreasonably loud. Impossible to have a conversation.
Everythihng we tried was very good, and the service was top notch. Love the atmosphere, too.
Piccolo Sogno is amazing. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. Owner Ciro and Tony is very nice. The restaurant is in good condition. Amazing pizza Bianca and sea bass and beet salad. Must come back. 10/10.
I look forward to this visit every year! Having lived in the city years ago, dining at this beautiful spot several times a month was such a joy. And since leaving the city I miss Piccolo Sogno's exquisite cuisine, beautiful wines, and especially their chef & staff. My favorites are the lasagna, ravioli Piccolo Sogno, and their outstanding branzino. Tony Priolo and Ciro Longobardo are the best in the business! Guarantee you'll have an evening to remember!
I come here for dinner twice a year while visiting Chicago as its a favorite. It is authentic Italian food at reasonable prices. Servings are good size and most shareable if you wish. Calamari/shrimp app is wonderful All wines Italian so don't ask for New Zealand wine!!
This is the second time we have come back since visiting Chicago. Love the food and service. Everything tastes fresh and flavorful. Glad I found a staple to always come back to!
The sous chef came and personally checked on us. We celebrated our 1 year anniversary. They made it so special!

Wonderful dinner with out of town family! Giada was lovely as a server. Food was delicious!! Shared caprese salads (among the best we've had) and frittura (fried calamari/shrimp appetizer). Especially loved the spaghetti neri which was loaded with seafood and the rosticciana (short ribs). Hazelnut chocolate cake was delectable, although choice of panna cotta was a bit disappointing. We look forward to dining there again.
I visited this restaurant yesterday for a birthday dinner, and the experience landed in the middle for me. The prices suggest a higher standard, yet the portions felt small. The caprese came with only two pieces of cheese and tomato, though we still enjoyed it. The fried calamari was solid.
The beet salad (barbabietole) was not great. It had no seasoning or dressing, which made it surprisingly bland for a dish that usually has more potential.
The chicken hen was $29 and had almost no seasoning, which left it flat, although the rapini on the side was delicious. The braised beef short rib had strong flavor, but the portion was small for $39.
Gluten free options were limited, and the only pasta substitute offered was corn pasta. It felt like an afterthought. A brown rice pasta or at least one more option would help.
They also charge a non-cash fee, which adds to the sense that the value just does not match the price point.
The biggest surprise was that they did not acknowledge the birthday with any complimentary dessert or gesture. For a place in this price range, that small detail matters.
Overall the visit was fine, but not memorable, and I would not return.

Went to Piccolo for my pre birthday celebration 🥳
We were welcomed with complementary bread basket and it was a delight.
As vegetarian there are limited options but still enough to enjoy the meal.

Three stars on the atmosphere because we were in the indoor not in the outdoor garden. The light inside was very dim that you could barely read the menu. But the food was very good.

The food is amazing, as is the service. It's one the best Italian restaurants I have been to.
