Tried Pizza Matta for the first time tonight. Excellent cheese blend, a satisfying butter crust (not overly buttery like Lou’s!) and a delightful crunch. The tavern style needs more sauce than how it comes standard, so I’d definitely order with extra sauce next time. Overall satisfying experience with Pizza Matta!

Even though I live less than a half mile away, I am still much closer to Pizza Lobo and Paulie Gee's and I pick Pizza Matta Every. Time. I'll order a pie for delivery or walk in and grab a slice. If you want a no frills cheese or pepperoni pizza, this is the spot. If you want a more complex pizza with fancy toppings, this is the spot. If you've eaten at Giant, you know the care that goes into the food and this is the perfect extension of that operation. I will be a regular for as long as I'm a Logan resident (and beyond if I can't find another pizza as good).

I’ve had Pizza Matta on my list for a while now after seeing fox’s review on instagram, it looked phenomenal. I had to make my way up there and check it out for myself. We ordered the 16 inch tavern style cheese pizza. I had my queen with me and she’s a vegetarian so we went with cheese, but you have the option to do half-and-half. The pizza was on point came out piping, hot, nice and thin. Their dough is amazing it stayed crispy throughout the whole dining experience. The quality of dough and flavors are exquisite and they cooked it perfectly with just right char on the bottom, you could also from the taste you can tell they use really good quality cheese. The sauce was nice and acidic the way I like it, only feedback I have is just need to add a little more sauce. They also offer side condiments like hot honey and chili oil. The chili oil was amazing even the quality of their Parmesan is 🔥. The young lady that helped us at the register was very helpful and patient great customer service felt like she was happy that we were there trying their pizza. The location is little store front on Armitage with three tables with bench seats counter/register where you can get slices and an opening to see the guys making pizzas. It’s really cool little spot. I love the ambience with the pizza peels hanging on the wall. Parking was real easy. Lots of street parking. They also have pay for parking in front of the restaurant. I will definitely be back to try their specialty pizza that they offer.100% Recommend!!

The wings were quite fatty and didn’t have that much actual meat on them (tasted like frozen grocery store wings). The green sauce pizza barely had any green sauce on it and one of the toppings we paid for didn’t make it on the pie! (and the arugula was very much needed with how fatty the pizza was). Why is Pizza Matta’s food so greasy? I recommend avoiding this place at all costs!

I love this place and I love Giant. The crust is great, good texture and flavorful, and the cheese they use is top notch. Pepperonis were also high quality, if there’s a problem it lies with the sauce. There's hardly any, not even close to enough on either their tavern or NY style. Order the NY style with extra sauce. The tavern is so thin that there’s barely any room for sauce, if you care. Still solid tavern.

This is an updated review. The pizza here is really good. I have only had delivery. I ordered tavern thin. I imagine the pizza is a lot better straight out of the kitchen but I haven’t dined in. I believe the delivery is a third party. I usually try to avoid places that only offer third party delivery for two main reasons. One: I prefer the delivery money goes to a small business or individual and not a large corporation like Uber or Door Dash. Two: a person who works at the restaurant is more likely to care about the product and take steps to insure the quality of the product being delivered. But I’m getting off topic. If you like “Chicago style” thin crust pizza they have a very solid offering.

Just grabbed the Meatball grinder. Bread made to order. Might be the best meatball sub in town. Easy contender. Incredibly tender, sauce was perfect and the roll was incredible. 5 stars.

Amazing pizza! I always pass by here and finally decided to try it and it's hands down really good. They also have sodas that are made locally in Chicago which also are great! I tried the veggie slice and the sausage and tomatoes. Both amazing

This pizza is great! Owner is super friendly. I regularly stop in for a slice when I want something quick and affordable. I usually go for the cheese, but all their toppings are good. Their tavern style is also super thin and crispy if ordering a whole pie. Great neighborhood spot!

I’m really torn on how i feel about pizza matta. I’ve had it twice now and it’s definitely a good tavern style pizza but not worth the $40 that we paid for it. But it’s a good every now and then splurge
