Excitement filled within me, as I was excited to try this place. I was hoping it would be worth it. A sign on the building stated PIZZERIA UNO®️ was a HISTORIC LANDMARK. It also stated it was the BIRTHPLACE OF THE ORIGINAL DEEP DISH PIZZA - 1943 - Ike Sewell invented Deep Dish Pizza in this building in 1943, which began a Deep Dish pizza revolution. My significant other and I walked inside and were told we could sit down anywhere at the bar. I was given a menu immediately. I looked at it to see what was offered. From the COCKTAILS section, we got a POMEGRANATE MARGARITA. It was Pomegranate splashed into a tequila con-noisseur’s favorite, Cuervo Silver, mixed with the sweetness of Cointreau and the tartness of lime. The server asked us if we wanted to have it rimmed with salt and we accepted. It was 12.99. From the DEEP DISH SPECIALTY PIZZAS section, I ordered an Ind. 14.99 NUMERO UNO®️. It stated Our first choice for the most delectable pizza! Extra cheese, an abundance of fresh sausage, just the right amount of pepperoni and fresh mushrooms, onions and green peppers. The HOT & COLD DRINKS section stated ALL SOFT DRINKS AND ICED TEAS…FREE CHICAGO REFILL. The SOFT DRINKS were 3.89. It stated We are proud to serve Pepsi®️ products. I went with a Diet Pepsi. The POMEGRANATE MARGARITA was fantastic. Every ingredient played perfectly off of each other. The NUMERO UNO®️ looked small upon arrival, but it was packed with ingredients and flavors, which made up for the size of it. I enjoyed every bite of it. The Diet Pepsi was good. The FREE CHICAGO REFILL was just as good. The service was alright. I expected it to be better. Overall, it was a decent spot to try. I wouldn’t be in a rush to go again. Date of visit: 05/06/25
Be nice to not take reservations on a place that is closed. We are traveling for thanksgiving and this was going to be our family meal. Boo. We wound up eating some door dash trash at the hotel.
We went with my husband because we wanted to try traditional deep-dish pizza and eat somewhere with character. Unfortunately, the pizza was literally flavourless (a small Margherita). My husband’s pesto one was okay, but nothing special. The place itself has great character, which is the only reason I’m not rating it lower. If it were based on the pizza alone, it would be a poor+ at best. And for the prices they charge, it just isn’t justified.
Pizzeria with the typical Chicago style. Could even eat outside. The hit was that you could also have the pizzas with half-half topping. Spinocolli/BBQ Chicken the absolute hit for us. Safe again when we get there.
After 6 years we went to the same Uno, this time the waiting time was 30 something minutes for a table it was a bit packed. The service was amazing, good was delicious and the beer was top tier. Highly recommended. Just make sure to go with more people, 1 medium pizza can feed a village

Delicious but simply not pizza
I didn't like it, firstly, you wait for this pizza for more than an hour and it's not tasty.

Really great pizza, somewhat long wait times. Friendly staff and cozy if a little crowded atmosphere.

Food was amazing, staff was lovely, Sergio was fast and attentive. I’m not normally a deep dish gal but this might have changed me. The restaurant is also very cute, casual, authentic Chicago vibes

I am shock of the attitude from Staff! We arrive with our baby and a stroller, we were informed we can not take the stroller inside as it’s very small. Once the pizza arrived , the table Next to us was not in use and was blocked by another three ladies so I asked again the waiter if we can get the stroller as baby was crying and we couldn’t eat! The waiter then shouted at me super abruptly and basically throw me out the restaurant saying I ll bring you a box to go! He said, the answer won’t change! They kept rushing us beforehand to eat and leave! The waiter was super scary and shouted really badly to me so I end up leaving in tears and waiting outside for my husband toe get our staff. I would not recommend the place, still On shock, destroyer our whole day! There is another pizzeria opposite called Duo, please go there! Here the hostess and the waiter and super rude , and not accommodating!
We were lucky enough to eat outdoors. The service was excellent, the prices modest by local standards and the portions generous. The main draw was to try the speciality dish, deep pan pizza. I found it inedible and can think of nothing to commend it. From the hard brittle crust to the sloppy, tasteless filling it was impossible to eat and not worth the 40 minute wait. A bad idea, and surprising the concept has survived and thrived for over 80 years.
Always one of my favorite places in Chicago. The only unique and original deepdishpizza, as good as I found the first time 25 years ago 😍
The food was mediocre at best but what topped it off was the server insulting my wife and asking what was wrong with her nose. 10/10 would never recommend this place - do yourself a favor and don’t stop by to eat here
Never again First the hostess was rude. Never explained we had to order deep dish pizza while waiting for a table. We only found out when she told another customer that’s waiting to be seated. We later figure out it does take 30 minutes to make a deep dish pizza, she should have told us that. The waiter nor hostess offered my 5 & 7 year olds kids menu. We didn’t know there’s kids menu until after dinner and we saw a family with kids menu. We did order a pasta dish off the regular menu for the kids to share. Suppose to come with a salad, they never brought the salad out. Also one of us threw up that night in our hotel room from the food.
