What you want from more of an upscale vegan place. Went in very hungry and tried a lot of things. Don’t sleep on the broccoli appetizer—that was my favorite dish. The ramen was my least favorite—would try a different main next time. It is pricier, but the value for money feels right. We got a ton of dishes and drinks and our bill was under $200 for two people. We didn’t need to order as much as we did, but I only visit Chicago occasionally so it was a treat.
Great options for sharing with some good ideas. Not everything was perfect but I enjoyed every dish I tried.
The best vegan restaurant in Chicago. I simply loved it. This planta is focused in oriental food ,so it's different to other Planta Queen I have been in other cities. I recommend so badly the Japanese steak with chimichurri and the sushi Torched and pressed. Also using noodles are very good and the matcha cheesecake
Lekker eten, aardige bediening en leuke sfeer
We originally planned to have dinner elsewhere, but elected to go somewhere closer to our hotel. We're so glad we diverted! We started with the kimchi bao and 1000 layer potatoes. We both agreed we could've each eaten several plates of the potatoes alone. Any meat 'n' potatoes dad from West Coast to East Coast, the Midwest and beyond would have said the same. Kimchi bao could have benefited from smaller cabbage bits, but the crispy mushrooms were so good. I'd been dying to try some unagi eggplant and it did not disappoint. Love the smoky seared teriyaki flavors. The udon noodles also had a really rich smoky flavor that I loved. The ahi watermelon nigiri was not as good as I'd hoped, but a fun creative option! For dessert we shared the matcha cheesecake & chocolate brownie. Yum!
Great food and superb service 👌
The concept is good and the service is really great, full of nice people. The food, however, felt like it could have been more flavorful and presented better. Overall for the price, there is better vegan food to be had elsewhere.
We split the Bang Bang Broccoli, 1,000 Layer Crispy Potatoes, “Beef” and Broccoli, and Thai Lettuce Wraps. Narrowing it down to these four things was difficult, as there’s so much to choose from. I especially loved the Thai Lettuce wraps, which is something that’s out of my typical comfort zone. Everything was delicious and the entree portions are pretty substantial. Definitely on the higher end price wise, but very much worth it.
Everything is a must! I was so happy with everything bite and the vibe was so great!
I only went here because all the other vegan spots in downtown Chicago were shut. After having had this food for the second time—the first was in DC— I think I want to say this is for rich people who aren't picky about their protein requirements. I got the fried rice and the watermelon sushi. Worth noting that adding any kind of protein is a surcharge. Neither itemswere impressive or layered or rich, taste wise. The only upsides of going to the place are the ambience and decent service. Besides that, I suppose I will always stick to eating the tastier and more voluminous food things you can buy at other places. But I guess it's nice to know that vegan fine dining is a thing.

Planta Queen was out of this world delicious. The menu was diverse and creative. We wanted to order one of everything!
I’ve only ordered once. Having said that, I really liked what I had. It seems a bit high end. I’d like to investigate more of the menu.
I love the food here. Always fresh and flavors are delicious. You don't miss the meat.

This place was so disappointing. We got the cauliflower wings, sweet potato hand roll, bao, unagi nigiri (eggplant), sake to me (drink), and ahi roll (watermelon).
1) Service. It took a while to come take our order. The unagi I ordered came out long before the unagi my partner ordered.
2) Old seaweed. I told them right away I have an avocado allergy and I asked for a certain roll but no avo. They told us that their sushi is pre-rolled and they can’t customize anything because it’s all prepared in advance and then covered. I thought surely just the ingredients are prepared in advance together or something (still massively terrible for a place with a large portion of the menu being sushi…) but when the rolls came out the seaweed was VERY rubbery and chewy. Tasted very old. Not at all appropriate to serve in a place that charges same prices as a sushi restaurant. The only time I’ve had seaweed this bad is grocery store sushi where it’s been sitting in a fridge all day.
The rice also tasted very old. I don’t understand how sushi places can roll things on the spot but this place has stale rice and stale seaweed. Gross.
I’m so, so sad about this experience. I came here for a celebration and we left absolutely shocked at how bad every part of the experience was. The service, the food (the biggest disappointment), the drink stained menu I was given, and the sticky table. I always want vegans and non vegans to be able to experience awesome vegan food but I will never take anyone here. This is why non vegans think all vegan food tastes bad.
My advice: just go to a sushi place, a Korean restaurant, or any number of the decent fusion places in CHI. It’ll be far better.
