When I walked in ,one of the workers who put the toppings on the sandwich was complaining and was not too nice. She appeared to be upset because I asked her to change her gloves. She wiped the prep table and was going to use the same glove to make my sandwich. GROSS . When I came to the front to pay , the cashier had an attitude also. I asked for a bag , he just handed to me . I had more than one order. I would think they would give a bag for that. The whole establishment seems to have people who really don't want to be there. I've been there quite a few times in the past , I regret going back. I will not come back at all. Highly disappointed.

Bathroom says ‘For paying customers only’ yet I was Denied bathroom access as a paying customer, after standing in line for 20 minutes. Saw the staff use it themselves, tell customers to goto the CLOSED bathroom at TACO BELL. Hot garbage cashiers on Saturday nights (service on 8/30/2025, 11pm)

My issue isn't with the food but with the condition of the shop. Food is Potbelly's. The issue is that the dining room was pretty filthy. Stopped in on a late afternoon on a Sunday after a movie at the Siskel and the place looked very ragged. But the cherry on-top is that I saw a BABY COCKROACH NYMPH by the napkin dispenser. Talk about a appetizer killer.
Avoid until their get their act together.

It was super busy and wmtook a while to order, but the staff was working as hard as they could to get us taken care of. Not the coziest atmosphere since it was so crowded but a Potbelly sandwich always hits the spot and it was a convenient spot to grab lunch downtown.

Extremely disappointed with the service today at the Potbelly on State Street. First, it took over 20 minutes to make my milkshake. When I asked about it, I was told to “be patient” because it was a “specialty shake”—seriously? As for the bathroom, it was unacceptable: flies on the toilet and a strong, unpleasant odor. Completely unsanitary.
It's a bad version of Subway. Update: This is what my last experience was. This time the Sandwich war delicious. Only that you can‘t see (only read) what you can put on your Sandwich, is still a downgrade to Subway.
